Woooohooo! We may be back in town for this!

Our favorite Farm-to-Table dealio in Pittsburgh is Six Penn Kitchen where the "farm" is a rooftop garden....mere feet from the kitchen. Actually, they locally source a great deal of the menu ingredients to local farms since it would be a bit difficult to raise lambs on the roof of a building in downtown Pittsburgh. I don't think the lambs would be very happy.

I don't know if they still have it on the menu, but they make their own version of Cracker Jacks for dessert - how fun is that?

Nini,
I don't know if this restaurant is involved but Michael's cousin is the head chef and they do purchase locally from what I read under the 'About' section of the website.

Oh my gosh, Cindy! That is so great! I've never heard of Six Penn Kitchen!!! I love it! I'm going to definitely look them up and add them to our "must do" list for the warmer season! And I think my boys, who are TREMENDOUS Pirates and baseball fans would LOVE to try their Cracker Jacks! I just pray they don't start singing! LOL!

I've never heard of Salt Of The Earth, either! What a cool place! They look amazing! How awesome! We will have to try them out, too - I love their menu! I wonder if we could get an entire group of friends to join us - that would be so cool!

Thank you, girls for sharing these places with me! A couple of weeks ago, we were talking with our son and his girlfriend about different restaurants we'd like to try this summer. I am just SO excited about both of these! You'd think people here would be buzzing about them, but that is just not the case. Believe me when I say - I will share about them! I WILL share!

I just pray we have better weather for the 8th... I really want to go!!! Right now, we're expecting another snowstorm to hit - bigger than before. My hubby doesn't mind driving in it one bit, but I much prefer to stay home, warm, cozy and safe!

It does look cool doesn't it Nini. If Michael and I ever make it back East we hope to stop by there :) Hmmm, maybe for a double date? :)

When we have had to travel in storms I get super nervous. Michael is a very good driver and knows how to maneuver in the snow but I get so stressed. I take a book or knitting with me so I'm not constantly watching the road and conditions :)

It's a standing date, Sharon! ABSOLUTELY! :)

I totally understand, Sharon. I just resort to my Rosary bracelet and not looking at the speedometer. He is a good snow driver, too. He doesn't drive crazy or speed in the snow, of course; but when paranoid, white-knuckled me thinks he should be doing 10 mph, he might be doing 20, so it's absolutely much better if I just close my eyes and pray! LOL! When it comes to driving in the snow, I think having grown up in the hilly, wind-y, rollercoaster-esque Pittsburgh are has served him quite well, vs. my driving experience, in flat, straight Rhode Island, for sure! ;)
