I am one happy farmgirl! My best gal pal is not a gardener or a big cook or baker. She has pear and peach trees on her property and lets me pick as much as I want! So...the peaches are grand this year. I am making peach jam all week and tonight I have a peach buckle in the oven as we speak, from a recipe out of one of my antique cookbooks. The crust went on the bottom, peaches with sugar, then the syrup from the peaches and sugar mixed with cinnamon, and finally a dusting of sugar and cinnamon on top. I will let y'all know how it comes out.

Any other ideas/how do you like to use fresh peaches?

Farmgirl Hugs,
Nicole

Yum Yum Yum! Lucky you, Nicole!!! I canned peaches and pears last week. The pears turned out fantastic, but the peaches were too ripe. I am thinking I may take them out of the jars and dehydrate them for snacks. If you haven't dehydrated peaches, you have no idea what you're missing. My son and hubby try to eat them up as quickly as I make them!!! I know you can do it in a very low oven, if you don't have a dehydrator. Very yummy snack indeed! Another thing we like to do is make peach dump cake in the winter: in a 9 x 13 pan layer a jar of peaches, a yellow cake mix (homemade for us!), and then you can add some pecans if you like, and then slice up a stick of butter really thin and place the pats all over the top. Bake at 350 til golden and bubbly! Mmmmm-M! Finally, a good friend taught me how to make peach bread pudding. I don't have a recipe - I kind of do it all from my head using plenty of eggs, cream, bread, cinnamon, sugar, butter and lots of canned peaches. Oh-my-hips: SO yummy! :) Have fun, and enjoy those delicious peaches, my friend!!! Hugs - Nini

That's wonderful Nicole! What a blessing:)

I canned Peaches and Ginger Peaches, made Peach Jam and Peach Jalapeno Jam. Did you know that you can freeze the peaches whole? At the farmstand where I purchased a case the farmer told me to freeze whole wrapped or placed in a baggie and when ready to use run under warm water for a couple of minutes and slip the skins off.

I have added fresh peaches to my zucchini bread and even froze loaves so we could have it in the Winter. Fresh Peach Cream Pie is good too!
Oh and Peach Milkshakes or Smoothies:)
