This is SO irritating. One of my husband's co-workers received a business gift from a company who must have thought it funny to give live chickens for Christmas. There is some inside joke behind it, but I didn't want to hear all of it. The bottom line is that they are giving chickens to people who are completely unprepared to care for them. Living, breathing animals.

SIGH.

So this chicken needs a home. It came with a big cage, so it's not like it's cramped right now or anything. But it still needs to be somewhere other than an office in a big urban center.

Are there any Farmgirls close enough to the Twin Cities who can take this chicken? Email me off list if you're interested and we can work out the details. I'm willing to drive this animal to its new home provided it's not *too* far out.

Thanks!

Catherine

I wonder what people are thinking?!? This is a living, breathing, animal! Not a joke for someone like me!

I hope this birdie finds a good home....

That sort of thing irritates the heck out of me too!! Jeesh!! About like the idiot uncles who give kids a little bunny or chick for Easter not even considering where it will live, or how it will be treated when it is full grown in just a few months.
I hope you are able to find someone for the chicken.

Send me an email and lemme know what you know about it. whatever you don't kow, well, I am the Google queen and can certainly find it out. We have got the coop and the feed and the space for it, so we will def. take it if you have not yet had a taker.

Oh Tasha You are great! I'd have taken it but I can't see my husband being pleased about a 14 hour road trip to rescue a chiken! LOL!

Operation Find Chicken a Home is underway! Thanks so much Tasha! We're emailing now with the unwitting recipient of the bird (Paul, the one who occupies the Hen's current cubicle home) and will arrange for a rendezvous on Sunday when Tasha comes down to the Cities with her family.

How cool is this? Tasha gets a new bird, Paul and I can feel better about this silly Christmas gift that was not well thought out in the first place (idiots!) AND I get to meet another Farmgirl!! Fun all around.

Wahoo! Tasha-Rose and her family stopped by to pick up the chicken today and the chick's all set! And Tasha is SO awesome, and SO sweet and her kids are SO DARLING!!! What a treat to have met Grace and Zoe in person! (And husband Rob too, but he wasn't as cute as the little girls...) :)

We just had a short visit due to holiday parties but it was fun, fun, fun.

All's well that ends well!

Catherine, it was so great to meet you!!! and your family!!!! Hedwig is here and safe and sound. We are keeping her in the house until we get some friends for her, which is on the agenda tomorrow. We know a woman not far from here who sells eggs and she is willing to sell us a couple of friends for Hedwig. She is soo beautiful and everyone who saw her t the family party last night loved her. Rob's cousin, Sarah loves that her name is Hedwig!! And they all love the whole story. She was clucked a bit today and the girls just love her.

I love that you named it Hedwig!!!! We have 2 dogs named after characters in the Harry Potter Books! We have one named Hagrid and one named Lily (Harry's mom)! I'm so glad the chicken found a home.

Oh Jo...I'm SO jealous about that snow!! Our "white Christmas" that came late last week stuck around but is a bit mushy-gushy. I'm just finishing knitting up a pair of awesome mittens for myself but am worried that I won't need them here anymore! Get me on a train to Alaska, STAT!
