I just wanted to introduce myself, my name is Cindy Marie, I have recently gave up my professional career in AgriBusiness (I ran the Missouri Department of Agricultures Organic Cost share assistance program) but after feeling like my program was the "red headed step-child" of big agriculture I quit and moved from the city to rural NE Missouri to be with my Fiancé. I now live in a historic german colony called Bethel. I am still trying to adjust to living in rural area and actually living a life of Agriculture and small community living.
I am very happy with my move and slowing down a bit (except right now is harvest time and I have been to the top of more grain bins than I wish to admit.)
I have been given a historc building "in town" by the german colony to make an art studio out of. I have a had a small craft business since 1999 that I started to put myself through college.
I have no children of my own but I have three Adult best friends (I told them I would never take the place of their deceased mother) so I don't call them my step-children. I am the "friend" that they can talk to when it important enough to need help but not quiet sure if they want/need to talk to dad about something. And I am happy with that arrangement.
I also recently bought 3 Shasta campers years ranging from 1962-68 and hopefully between the three I can make one Glamper.
I have a ton of hobbies from bee keeping, crafting, home remodeling and home decor the art building will be my 7th house I have remodeled, raising coyote hunting dogs (we have 13 right now) I love trout fishing, bow hunting and helping Joe (my fiancé) with his construction and excavation business, Womens Bible study and I am involved with a lot of community and church events.
With all that said I am glad to be apart of this community, and I hope that I can be of some help to you all, I am sure you all can be for me!

Welcome Cindy! I'm so glad you decided to join us! You sound like a very busy woman with all your projects. I can't wait to see how one of your glampers turns out. Be sure to share pictures! What sorts of things do you make for your small craft business? Your house remodeling sounds like a blast!

| Hi from Ohio...I joined last week, so it's good to welcome someone new! You'll love the quiet of the country and soon you'll feel like there's no place you'd rather be! I must admit...I'm jealous! I let a 1966 Shasta slip away...I stumbled on one and looked it over, then, by the time I went back to check the electric, water, and propane (just like MaryJane's book recommends) the camper was sold. Dreams dashed for now...but I'm still on the lookout. Hoping to see you share some photos of yours as you glamp one up! |

Thanks for the warm welcomes! I am so happy that I found this group of Gals. I can't wait to share my adventures! and to learn more! Knowledge is key to keeping me out of trouble...hehe (okay maybe just the deep trouble I can get in to) who knows anymore. I am expecting my books today that I ordered from MJF. I am finding that I am becoming more of a book worm living in the county now. its peaceful and relaxing. oh and I got my farm girl sister number too.....I am officially # 7188! yippee for me...
Wendy ....I have been finding the campers in the most unexpected places. its like all I see now when I drive the county roads is...here a shasta, there a shafts everywhere a shasta! its like my eyes are spotting mushrooms in the woods! Once you see one you realize they are everywhere. just keep your peepers open! I have been lucky so far with my "collection" of campers. (or as my better half says ....my graveyard of years gone by...poop on him, they will be put to their former glory in time....I have faith and a lot of free time now.) ...I am still under $500.00 for all three of them. so thats a happy dance....cha cha cha! |
