Hi all - I'm back! For those of you longer-term farmgirls here that might remember me, I used to be in London, UK. I had some wonderful times there but it is always GREAT to be home! On the way back to New Zealand dh and I had a holiday in America and with a lot of planning and co-ordinating, we made it to Mary Jane's Farm Fair! I am SO glad I went - I got to meet some farmgirls from this forum and what amazing true blue farmgirls they are! I wouldn't have been able to go to the Fair without the help of some of them, thank you Kay, Missy and Patricia. I just read that the Farm Fair won’t be on this year - I encourage everyone to try and make it next year – it is just so lovely to visit the farm and also to see all of the wonderful crafts available – Farmgirls are SO creative! There were several things I could have easily bought there but unfortunately had to remind myself about my already heavy luggage and “importation” regulations….
I currently have a bit of a wild garden on a slope which is a “work in progress” plus several potted veges and herbs. One day soon I hope to have a place to grow a larger vege/herb garden, an orchard, have a pond, some chickens and maybe a cow! I look forward to catching up with past farmgirl friends and meeting new ones!

Hi Debs! Nice to have you back! You have been on quite an adventure! I found a neat site the other day that made me think about you. It was about New Zealand farmstay holidays and there was quite a wide variety to choose from! Very interesting and you are so lucky to live in such a beautiful and diverse place. Good luck w/ the new house, glad to see you are "wired" again!

I was at the last Farm Fair. Maybe we met. It was such a fun time and so many farm gals I just can't remember who is who. Glad you are home from your long adventure. I almost got to go on one of those farmstay adventures bramble was mentioning but different circumstances prevented it. I'll try another time. MB.

Welcome back Deb's. I would love to hear more about your place and living in Kiwi country. I had often thought of moving your way and would love to know more about it - other then what I find in the books. You have been missed I am sure and I look am excited to hear more about your life and experiences.

Hi Debs, I am an Aussie Farmgirl, so I think you must be the closest farmgirl to me!! Currently living in WA, but are planning to move back to Victoria soon - fingers crossed! Then I'll be even closer to you. You are so lucky to have got to the FarmFair - I'd love to visit one day. Best wishes, Jayne |

Gidday Jayne! There were a couple of other Aussie's on the forum a while back (Stella and Linda - wherever you are please re-join us!) and a fellow Kiwi farmgirl Helen (Bubblesnz) who has moved and is enjoying life at a small beachside village where there is no internet!!! So she is snail-mail-only farmgirl. I met her a couple of weeks ago - it is a really beautiful spot where she lives! Us four farmgirls were/are the Manuka chapter and we swapped journals with the Yarn and Garden Chapter of Oregon. Boy did those journals travel around the world - UK/NZ/Australia!! We also contributed a red-work square (Helen's creative work) to one of the Farm Fair quilts - I am not sure where the quilt is now though - does anyone know?

Hi Debs,
Welcome back!! I was at Farm Fair too! Wonder if I smiled at you. I was so awestruck, I think I was a bit goofy. So glad to hear you are back after your travels.

So glad you found your way back!! It sounds like you are off to a wonderful start! Will you buy a bit of land there? I went to New Zealand years ago and LOVED it there! I thought it was absolutly beautiful so I can see why you would be thankful to be back! I look forward to hearing more about your settlings in and gardens, chickens, n such as you add them to your life! Hugz! Talitha

Hi Debs!Just had to 'hello' to a fellow kiwi. I grew up in Christchurch, and it's where most of my farmgirl roots were deeply established. As a matter of fact my Nana still maintains a garden to this day-and she is in her late 80's :-) New Zealand will always hold a place in my heart. |

Linda, Is that your blog at the bottom of your post, cause where do you live? I am hoping to move to Merrijig when we move back, was looking at Omeo which I so love, but family are in Melbourne so looking at a bit closer. We may have to move to Hamilton first, if hubby gets transferred there, but I will, HOPEFULLY, be buying a property as well, that we can work on setting up before we can move there permanently. Another place we looked at was Bright (my brother used to live there, he has now moved to Beechworth), but once again a little too far from Melbourne. I would love to hear from you - maybe we can be neighbours!! You must be looking forward to the snow - or have you already had some? Best wishes, Jayne |
