I'm so jealous!! Everyone in blogland are getting new facelifts, a new banner at the top, more personal and creative and I love them all and I want one!! How on earth do you do it? If it has anything to do with html, I'll be lost but if it doesn't I can sure try and who knows, I may surprise myself, I got this far solo! I really want a new looking blog, blogger has such boring templates! I'm not alone either, I've read on blogs how they too would like a facelift, does anyone care to explain how you did that! And girls, they all look just GREAT!!!

Sue, for the banner, I just put a bunch of photos alongside each other in my Print Shop program. Then...I transfered it to Adobe Photoshop to crop and resize it... Then I uploaded it onto flickr. Rachel had to talk me through the whole process, so don't feel bad that you've not figured it out!
If you've got some photos you want made into a banner but haven't got the programs to do it, you can email them to me and I'd be happy to do it for you.
I've no clue how to do the wallpaper kind of stuff that people are doing.

I don't know how to do wallpaper, but I can help with some things. Is there anything in particular that you like? give a link, of if it's on my blog, tell me what it is, and I can see if it's one I know.

Okay, here it is!
It's very easy.... LOL I also have a flickr account. I have the "pro" account now, but you can do what I'm going to tell you with a free account. Here goes:
1. Load your picture to Flickr. 2. After the picture is loaded, view that photo's "page" (click on the picture after saving) 3. On the right side of the screen, you will see a bunch of goodies. Click on the one that says "see different sizes". 4. Once you are at the different sizes area, find the size that is closest to 600 pixels wide. (You can resize you photo before you load it to Flickr if you know how, otherwise don't worry, and just get one close) Once you click on the picture size, and it comes up, there will be two codes. The HTML for your picture, and the URL. 5. Highlight and copy the HTML (it's the one on top) It will look something like this: <a href="http://www.flickr.com/photos/your account name will be here/381951493/" title="Photo Sharing"><img src="http://farm1.static.flickr.com/166/381951493_2329e626f3_o.jpg" width="600" height="226" alt="Your picture's name will be here" /></a> 6. From here on out, you will need to have the newest version of blogger to follow what I'm saying. 7. In the area for Template, under add and arrange page ellements, click on edit on your header area. Paste the code for your picture into the DESCRIPTION area. I did't want my title to show, so I also went to edit colors and fonts, and made the blog title color match the blog background, and then I shrank the font very small using that editing feature.
That's it! You can email me if you need help. rachel

Is there any way we can put all current and old posts regarding Blogs into their own forum?
It would be so helpful to have all info (like posting the pictures) in one place. Also, EVERYONE who has a Blog would be there in one forum so there would be no more searching to make sure you have found everyone's bolg page to read. The Blog thing is quite addicting, LOL.

There are a couple of threads on blogs, just not sure how far they go back. Thanks Tracey for your help here, when I get a bit more time I'm gonna see if I can do this by myself, and I think I have a flickr account, I would of never thougth I could use it to make the header on a blog?? Your so techy Tracey, thanks so much!!! You too Rachel, I'll worry about the wallpaper later on, maybe by then blogger will get some more templates?

You can do a lot of editing of your colors and that sort of thing in edit colors and font. I did that. You can also do a search for blogger templates, and see what you find. I know there are people out there who have free templates available. I've tried different colors on my main blog, but I like the white background. I do like the font color different though! One trick for hiding elements that you don't like, for example, I didn't want the line around my header or my pictures, so I changed that part of my blog to match the color of my background. They are still there, you just can't see them because I have them that way.
The thread called New Farm Girl Blogroll is the one that everyone last listed their blogs in. If you want a place to keep track of them all, I recommend BLOGLINES.com to subscribe to feeds. Then all you have to do, is subscribe to the blogs you like through them, and check there when you want to see who has something new on their blog. Saves a TON of time blogstalking! LOL

Flickr is a yahoo free program. If you have a yahoo account, it's very easy to set up. Here's the addy for flickr. http://flickr.com There are lots of blogging widgets that can be added to blogger. It's not a boring site. Just go take a look at my blog. The Memories of Mine to Thine link below my signature. I did all of that with premade widgets, and taking a bit of time to figure a few things out. I can customize blogger WAY more than my MySpace page. I have both.

OK, gals! I need help with my new blog. Specifically, I don't know how to separate my posts -- they all seem to appear in a 'clump', and I want to have photos illustrating each post to appear with that post. Make sense? Is it my template? Also, I can't 'paragraph' in my posts -- it appears as one long paragraph, although I try to doublespace into a couple of paragraphs . . . . Check out my newbie blog and help me if you can.
Thanks!

Katie, I think I know what you are trying to say.... When you are saying post, you really mean paragraph? A post is when you type a new entry into your blog. But you are typing more than one topic within one post, and you want to separate them? I think that's what you are saying, and I will try to help.
First, Put your curser at the bottom right side of one of your pictures then you are in compose mode, and hit enter. That will separate two pictures, and you can then place your curser in between the pictures to type. I always load pictures with NONE as the format so that changing things is easier. You can center, and rearrnge after your pictures are loaded in compose mode. THEN When you want to have a paragraph, you have to go into HTML mode (top right of your compose box before you publish) At the end of the line that you want to make a new paragraph in, type this: <br/> That should do it! Feel free to email me if you have any questions.

Good job explaining that one Rachel, I hope it helped Katie, your blog is very nice, I love the photos of the old stuff!! I finally got mine figured out and ditched the pretty new templates for now, for some reason my cut and pasting wasn't sticking? Oh well, I"m happy with the new look from blogger, next I want to use Tracey's directions with flickr and make a nice header.

Another tip for creating a new Paragraph, Type <p></p> at the end of the line you want to do that to.
Sue, Your cutting and pasting might not be working because you have seected your photos to be formated IE: you chose center, left or right when you uploaded your pictures. If you didn't do that, Then make sure there is an empty space where you are trying to place your cut and paste. If you don't hit enter, and create a void spot to put it, then sometimes it won't take. Not sure why that is, but I have found it to be true.

Yeah. The templates from outside blogger will do that. That's why I just play with the ones from blogger, and change colors and that. If you change from one blogger template to another, your widgets will stay.
