what might that be you ask?

Well...I'll be going tomorrow to see about a job.

I have not worked outside of the home since I got married 17 yrs ago.

I am both excited and nervous and a mix of emotions I guess.

My husband and I went to a small gourmet kitchen shop that offers cooking classes as well as things like baked bread and wine, and kitchen wares,a few home decor items, etc.

While there on Saturday..I just up and asked the woman that owns the shop if she ever needed help(shocked myself by asking..ha)..and she replied "yes" and so I asked her how many hours a week would she need someone and she said "20-25 hrs" and told me to come back next week to talk to her..

well..it is now next week...

so..I'll be going by her shop tomorrow.

The shop is really cute and quaint, and a little bit "stuffed to the gills" with all types of kitchen wares, etc. and always smells absolutely heavenly.(fresh baked breads that they sell there as well as flavored coffees, and if there is a class..well, the smell of a good meal... the shop's owner is a German lady that loves to cook)

Every Saturday there is a cooking class going on, some of which are hosted by area chefs and some by folks that have travelled abroad.

Anyhow...I'm crossing my fingers that I get the job.

Wish me well.

hugs, Tina

oh..and something else...I just got asked to do some dessert photography for a very big landmark resturaunt/tourist attraction out on our beaches..the resturaunt is shaped like a big ship and they have "pirates" that walk around..ha. anyhow..I'm very excited about being asked to do that..as it will be a real nice thing to add to my photo skills when folks ask..woohoo!

thanks Nancy and Karin..it's always a bit nerve wracking in a way..going out on a limb and going for something that you haven't done in soooo long...but I really think if I can land this..that it will be a good thing for me.
thanks a bunch..it's always nice to be able to share a little bit with you gals.

Tina,
That sounds like a wonderful place to work! I bet you will love that! I looked at the pictures of the flowers you had on another post today and they are great! No wonder they asked you to do the photography at the restraunt! I love taking pictures myself but I am not as good as you are.

Good luck with the job! I hope that you get it and love it!

Good luck Tina! It sounds like such a fun place to work too. Just wondering, what kind of camera do you use for your beautiful photography? I just got a new camera for my birthday and it's so much fun! Anyhoo, again, loads of best wishes for the job prospect. Let us know asap about the outcome! Big hugs, Lu

Tina I am so excited for you. I remember last year I took my first job since I was 18 and had never worked in a retail position. It was for an antique co-op of which I had a booth and then I was hired to run the Florial shop too. I was not very comfortable because for 11 years I had ran my own business and had to answer to no one. It was alot of work, but I found those things in myself that I always knew were there. I left after a year put it was great to get my feet back in the water. Please keep us up to date.

I send tons of good vibes your way.

it is a darling little shop near our downtown area.lots of fun items in it, a bit crowded..but that sort of the charm..plus as I mentioned it always smells like a "grandma's kitchen" very "homey" smelling. I'm crossing my fingers..and hoping that I land the job.
I'm about as nervous as a cat in a room full of rocking chairs though..as yes..it has been a long time since I have worked outside of the home..so it's like a whole new thing..all over again.
Thanks so much gals for the vote of confidence!
hugs to you all and I'll let you know how it goes.

The best thing we can do in life, is sometimes the hardest, and that is to "share ourselves". Getting out there and extending your hand, as it were. Mostly I think we are all a little timid (heck, nobody likes being turned down) but we are often surprised at how readily somebody takes our hand, right gals? And I see an opportunity at the kitchen shop later on.......you are such a gifted photographer, why not assemble some vignettes of beautiful veggies (think of those gorgeous big heads of wonderfully crinkly cabbages) and snap some black and white photos, or monochromatics. Sold as prints or also in sleek black frames, they would compliment the things she already has in her shop, and I bet she'd let you display some. Anyhow, GOOD LUCK; I bet you get the job. Nance

Good luck, Tina! I know it has to be a bit scarey, I haven't worked in 10 years and couldn't imagine going to a job interview. You'll do great, sounds like such a farmgirl type shop.

UPDATE!!
Woohoo! I got the job!! ($8/hr. to start and will increase as time passes and how well I do)
Someone asked how I'd handle my kids..well...I do have a live in babysitter..grins..and she is extremely mature.
We have a system here that works very well.So everything that needs doing will get done.
Plus..it's part time..and the lady hiring me understands that I have family/children..and told me today that family comes first..and if there was ever anything that came up with the kids to let her know and she'd understand.
Anyhow..I start Thursday!
Fun! Fun! thanks everyone for your good wishes/good vibes/prayers..it worked! woohoo!
