I have a farm sink and a clawfoot tub that both need to be painted/refinished. I bought a Tub & Tile kit at Lowes last night and have read the directions. What a bunch of steps! Plus, from start to finish, I won't be able to use the sink for 6 days (day I do the work and 5 days to cure). That's going to be a problem.
The man across the road has an auto body shop and does excellent work. Dh think we could just have him paint it and do whatever he does to car bodies. Do you think this would work? Would it be "safe"? What do you ladies think?

Patti- if yours are like mine , they are porcelain over cast iron and I am still having trouble finding someone to refinish them properly. I am doubtful that auto body paint would hold up well with evertyday use. A car doesn't have something constantly touching it or moving across it like a sink or tub would. If it's inexpensive maybe try a small sink or something? I still have hopes of getting my farm house sink redone but not much luck finding people who do it the right way. Sorry I don't have better than that to offer, I've been looking for over a year.

Bramble, have you thought of doing it yourself, using Tub & Tile or Tough as Tile? Someone here recommended the 2nd one, but I couldn't find it, and the man at Lowes told me Tub & Tile is the same thing. I told a friend I was going to buy it and she told me she did her bathtub herself a few years ago with this stuff. I've been in her bathroom many, many times and it's gorgeous, and (with her urging) I looked carefully at her tub again. It looked like a new, not refinished tub! She said it wasn't hard at all, that the worst part was being without a tub for almost a week (she has a tiny house with one bathroom). I was very, very impressed with how professional this product looks.
