Got a batch of plantain salve started. Simple to make, and wonderful stuff for burns, bug bites, stings. Pick dry plantain leaves, don't use if damp or wet, tear up and put in a jar. About a half a jelly jar of torn leaves. Add on top 4 oz of coconut oil. Put the jar in a saucepan of water on the stove and let simmer 2 hours. Strain, and add 1/2 oz of bees wax, grated or pellets into the oil, melting the bees wax. You may have to put it back in your sauce pan of water to do that. You can add some vit E oil and lavender eo if you would like. Sorry I don't have amounts on those.

Thanks for the ingredients Michele. I've used your salve many times and it does a nice job.

Great idea for storing plantain, Heather. It can be used fresh, too. We were at a black powder shoot once and I somehow got my finger between the rifle barrel ad the ramrod. There was plantain growing there so I picked some, chewed it up a little, and put it on the injury. Works great. We have lots of the narrow leaf variety in our front lawn.

Thanks for sharing Michele. We have been getting eaten by those terrible mosquitoes. This would be a great way to help with those bug bits on my kids arms and legs.
