I am sharing what I learned on the music merit badge. The composer I chose is George Gershwin famous for a lot of swing music during the World War Two era. The musician I chose is Elton John very flamboyant very popular. Elton John and George Gershwin both play the piano which is their principal instrument and they are both composers. The difference is George Gershwin's music is considered classical and Elton John's music is considered rock and roll. And by the way, I love Elton John's music. [/purple][/font=Comic Sans MS]

Allison, I love both Gershwin and Elton John too!! Did you know that Elton John has a traditional classical musical training before he took a leap off and created his brand of popular music? I think that is partly why he is so good. He understands music and it's ability to add melody to the words of a song that end up appealing to all of us.

Yes I agree. I love Elton Johns music too. Especially his music from the Lion King. Which was my favorite show growing up. Winnie, that makes sense knowing his background now. Very talented.
