I am new to this Chatroom-usually hang out in the gardening section! So basically I just need directions as to where I might get ideas for Slow-Stitching projects-what gals make with their creations. I have just ordered 2kits to make pictures that could be framed. I know these items can’t go through the wash because of frayed edges etc., so how can they be used other than framing? Garden season finally done here in N Michigan so just beginning to think about craft projects-preferably hand sewing that easy to pick up/no need for a sewing machine. Also considering crochet & embroidery, but Slow-Stitching has intrigued me for a while. Interested in quilting too, but not sure about all the cutting equipment needed. (If something becomes too complicated, it can become just one more “to-do” on my task list). Want to keep it simple. Any/all ideas welcome.
Thank you!!!

I use the sashiko visible mending technique. I have sashiko patches all over my jeans. It's easy to do and quite beautiful. Make sure to have good quality pearl cotton thread. Almost anything may be patched in this way.

I really enjoy slow stitching as well. There is information on Pinterest and tutorials on the internet to show you how to get started. It is fun and simple to do. You can also get simple patterns for crochet and embroidery the same way.
Enjoy and have fun.

Needlework can be added to a decorator pillow to give it a personal touch. I've appliqued small embroidered pieces onto tote bags too.

Another good place to learn is The School of Making. There are swatch packages that have everything needed to make the applique and reverse-applique designs Alamama Chanin creates.

Thank you Rose! Will check out the YouTube suggestion. I think a hobby that helps with anxiety can certainly be of benefit to most of us right now. I know I need to learn how to set aside the TO DO list and just BE.

Thank you, Rose, for sharing the stitching info! I don’t know a lot about slow stitching but it’s really got my interest! I’m going to look this up:)
