Somehow I have not been checking in on this post and I sure have missed a lot of great sharing!! Sara, I think you also are a collector of green rimed enamelware?? Every time I see a piece of that somewhere I think of you and wonder what you have. Count me on as a collector of lots most things vintage including old books which I treasure. Yesterday, I stumbled on this small store on a road I am not often on and stopped. It is closing at the end of this month but I found a collection of Reader's Digest magazines dating back to 1930s-1950s. I chose one from 1936, 1942, and August 1945. My reason for doing that was to see the topics in America that people were interested in and reading. My choice of magazines was to reveal citizen worries and problems pre WWII in 1936, and then 1942 right after we entered the war in late December 1941, and then August 1945 which was before the European war was won in April , but the Pacific war was still being fought until August 1945. Sara, I love old jars too but haven't focused on developing beyond about three. However, I do love the ones I have and they live in my kitchen which has a 1930s-40s vibe.

Thanks to all the farm girls who are sharing some of their collections and the stories behind them.

Yes, Winnie, I still have my collection of vintage cream trimmed in green enamelware. I never tire of it or my collection of vintage jars. Enjoy your Readers Digest books and I hope you learn something about what was being read during the WWII.

I just collect jars. . .any kind! I have some in a cabinet in my hallway. My 14 yr. old Granddaughter dug around in that cabinet, pulled one out, and made the cutest gift for her friend with it! She decorated it and put cute sayings in it. Now her friend can open it, pull out a saying, and have a brighter day because Maddie decorated and filled an old jar with love!
