Hello everyone,

How are you all doing? Are you done with your holiday shopping?

Not much happening here. Tomorrow I am driving to Montreal to meet a friend for dinner. We always meet at Upstairs Jazz Bar and Grill, such wonderful food and music. They have alive band. Most of the musicians are student from McGill's Conservatory. Looking forward to spending some time catching up. We've been friends for over 20 years.

Well, I best keep this short, it's pass my bedtime.

Keep well everyone!

Good morning!
Chilly morning here.
Our family is keeping it pretty simple this year. Most of my gkids are teens so it's more itune cards etc that they want. Makes it easy.

Hope everyone is doing well

Feel better soon Darlene! It's a rough season here for colds and flu :(

Saw my Dr yesterday. Will be seeing a spinal specialist after the holidays . Looking into other options, but probably looking at surgery sometime early next year :(
Not thrilled but can't continue like this either . I get another epidural next Tues and will be so thankful for the few weeks of relief that gives :)

It's raining here. A nice gentle and steady rain all night long and this morning. Time for my morning decaf!
Hugs to all!

Hope everyone is having a good day! :)

What's new?

Here things are moving along. Seems I never seem to be able to catch my breath! I took on 3 quilts to machine quilt for a customer and of course they need to be done before Christmas. Finished one, so now I'm enjoying a glass of wine!

Enjoy your evening everyone!

We had our first snow storm of the season, well worth talking about. Not much snow but with the rain, it's making road conditions horrible. Wish it was just snow! Love that fluffy stuff! Schools are closed ... I should probably close the shoppe also, who would want to venture out in this type of weather. So thankful I only live 5 minutes from work!

How are you all doing?

We had a rip roaring storm last night, hard rains and hard winds, I am still in one place and no serious leaks so far. It has calmed down some now and that is good, but further South the storm was a lot worse.

Have a great day out there.

Glad you are safe Darlene! Are there any flooding issues?

We had quite the snow storm ... nothing like Buffalo but apprx 7" of snow. Looks so pretty. Snow day today for the kids as well as yesterday. Two snow days in a row, that's a first!

Not at the moment but a possibility for coastal areas and river later. I am higher up where I can see it when it hits.
There is more coming in tonight.
Seven inches of snow is alot too and everything is so quiet when it is like that.

Quiet here! Everyone must be getting ready for the holidays!

I love Christmas! This year we are having the celebration at my house. When I was much younger, we had a family Christmas tradition called a "Reveillion" (French for evening celebration). On Dec 24, we would go to midnight mass. Afterwards we would gather (aunts, uncle, and cousins) at my maternal grandmother's home and feast. There were many traditional dishes like tortiere, Buche (Log cake) and foods that we did not have access to during the year, like cashews, chocolate, potato chips, soda etc (funny how those were sacred when I was growing up. We just didn't have access to that stuff other than during special occasions). Because there is no Thanksgiving celebration for the French Canadien, Christmas was when we had our turkey (I have my grandmother's turkey pan - I love it). After the feast, we opened our presents and socialized and played cards or other social board games - socialize the old fashion way! My grandmother always had the most amazing tree with a large village underneath! As my grandmother aged, the gathering would alternated each year between my mother's siblings. I have such wonderful memories of Christmas. Once my grand mother passed away, it stopped. Now we only celebrate with my immediate family.

Do you have special celebrations that you would like to share? I would love to read what you did during this time of year!

They are having a craft show at our school and one lady was setting up and she had a whole table and hanger rack full of fleece jackets she had sewn and I got to adorable pink fleece jackets for my grand babies, they have pretty kitty on them.
I can't wait until they wear them. I am going to go back tomorrow to see what else they have. it will be fun.
I decorated my little tree today and put some ornaments on a wreath on the window and some lights in the window. I think it looks great.

It looks beautiful, Darlene! My daughter and I are putting up our tree tonight. Trees are my favorite part of Christmas. I love the colors and lights and sparkles. I think everything just looks so cozy and pretty with the decorations.
Carole , I loved your stories of Christmases past. I , also miss the times with grandparents and Aunts/Uncles. All of mine are gone now as well and I cherish the memories of those years :)

Hope everyone has a good weekend!

Linda

Very pretty Darlene! We didn't do much decorating this year, but it's all good! We have enough up to be Christmas, but not too much to have to put away after. I have been baking a lot and sewing, which I enjoy so much. Thankful that I am healing very well, and can get around on my own now :)! Oh the things we take for granted, till we loose them - like being able to walk!
Looking forward to our Small Group Christmas Dinner tonight.
I have so much to be Thankful for, Farmgirls included!
Merry Christmas and Hugs to you all

Hello everyone,

Leaving Sat morning for MA to visit with the in-laws. Aunt Marge is visiting from Florida. It's our Christmas with the Meiers! It's always a blast. We have a Yankee swap! It's always fun to see what people come up with for gifts. DH and I usually make our gifts, but this year, I decided I needed a break. So I bought mine!

Enjoy your day everyone! Cheers!

Thanks Ruth! We are headed out to Littleton, MA. My inlaws live approximately 5 minutes from one of my favourite quilt shops - The Quilted Crow. Always a joy to pay a visit! Not sure I'll have time for that. It looks like it's going to be a quick up and down. DD works on Friday, so we'll leave early Sat morning and head back home on Sunday after lunch.

Keep well everyone! Cheers!

Carole, That is a very quick trip :(! Have a great visit with your family, and safe travels. Hope you get a chance to run by the quilt store. I love to visit different quilt stores, although I have done virtually no quilting for awhile. I have several UFOs, that are screaming my name. Hopefully after the first of the year I will be able to get to some of them :)!
