Denise, I don't think I will ever be used to it being that cold.

Take away the wind and it is a beautiful day.

Did anyone see the moon come up last night?
I had gone to the bathroom at midnight, as I returned to bed I actually thought the woods were on fire. Now that woke me up good. So for almost 10 minutes I watched. It was so red. Of course I quickly knew it was not an earthly fire...but a spectacular moon rise.

It is going to be in the low 40's here today and I am so looking forward to it. Sounds like a lovely day to clean out the chicken coop.

I did have lavenders for a couple of years Marilyn. Unfortunately a fox cleaned them out one day when we ere combining. I have a few Buffs right now, but have never replaced the lavenders. They are so expensive from the hatchery and I found them a little more flighty than the buffs so I am just staying with those. Right now my flock consists of Buff Orpingtons, Barred Rocks, Isa Browns and 1California White.

The reason I asked, was I get an email from MurryMcMurry Hatchery, and they were advertising Lavendaar Orpingtons. I have always bought my chicks from a couple of local feed stores and Tractor Supply. We have also ordered from Ideal Hatchery in Cameron, Texas. In fact when I buy chicks locally...They all come from Ideal. It is fun to go to the Post Office, very early in the morning, up to the back door and collect my peeping boxes of fluffy cuteness. It is also fun to go in the main entrance and hear the babies peeping, as they wait for their people to come and get them.I
It must have been fun and noisy to deliver the mail, back in the day, driving along from farm to farm to deliver the little peeps to my grandma and her neighbors, as well as anyone else who ordered them. ThAt was when they brought your package to your house, instead of leaving it on the ground under the boxes of on top.
Anyway, thanks for telling me about the flightieness of the Lavender Orpingtons.

We had a gorgeous day today! Felt like spring .... It was in the 40's .... took the opportunity to nail down the nails on my back porch. It's so annoying to be shoveling and get stopped in your track due to a nail that's come up. lol I think I got them all. I'll let you know soon enough ... we have snow foretasted for Wednesday ... up to 6 inches .... I love snow!

Soaking rains today and part of tomorrow. It is not cold out yet but the cold front will come through late tomorrow and Thursday will be in upper 50s and down to freezing that night!

Marilyn, That is where we got some of our chicks and Privett Hatchery also.

Carole,
I would have enjoyed the snow this year if we had received any significant amount. Most was melted when it hit the ground.

We have had temps in the 50's but along with that comes the rain. We have had a few days of sun here and there so I am ready for some nice Spring days! I like to be optimistic when it comes to the weather. We can't do anything about it anyway!

The cold North wind picked up around 5pm yesterday...It was so gusty at bedtime it was almost scarey...It was knocking things over out doors. So we are sunny, but only 42° after lunch time and of course the wind chill makes it feel less me it is still in the 30s.
I sure do hope Sunday is a beautiful, sunny, calm day. The weather guesses think it will be nice.Soft and gentle as a newborn little baby lamb!

We also had a lot of wind and rain yesterday as well and today it is COLD outside, but the sky is azure blue and the sun is shining bright. I am wearing one of my favorite cozy sweaters and loving another chance to enjoy it!

Our wind laid last night...today I only wore a light sweater when I did my watering chores. The sun is so nice this time of year. Winnie I hope you enjoy your weather. I look forward to no a/c and no heat with Windows and doors open.

Tomorrow it is supposed to be 40 degrees. In Minnesota at this time of year that is a heat wave. Lots of signs that spring might come early this year.

We did get a few inches of snow yesterday .... nothing major ... just enough to give Mother Nature a gorgeous blanket of fresh white fluffy stuff. I love all seasons ... such beauty in everyone.

I wish we had gotten some snow this year. Maybe that's why I'm wanting the warm temps. Since we didn't get any it didn't seem quite like winter, though we did have cold temps.

Gorgeous day today! Sunny and 24F ... it's actually mild. I've had my patio door open for a couple of hours; airing out the house. Hope you are enjoying your day!

Beautiful day here. 60 degrees and sunny. I spent a lot of the morning letting the dog in and out. Lol he enjoys laying on the welcome mat and sunning himself when it starts to warm up.

March came in like a lion here; winds up to 30mph. We had no rain at all in February, breaking records back to 1848 when record taking started. It will be in the unseasonable 70s again this week. I sure do love this weather but I hope we get some good spring rain.
