What a fun post! I'll start with a couple....the smell of bread baking....hugs from my grandbabies....the smell of the sagebrush after a rain...a quiet afternoon in my sewing room with a cup of coffee...

Last night I put the baby to bed and I was sitting on the porch reading. My porch is across from a soybean field. The terrain in front of my house is very flat. If I look to the left and through some trees in the distance I can see giant metal windmills in Ohio. The sun had not set yet, and I looked out over the field and a giant bright pink moon was rising. It was so beautiful! I love it when the moonrise takes me by surprise. I know the moon is not really any bigger when it's close to the horizon line, but it looked huge! The colors in the sky and the moon, the sun, always make me feel closer to our Creator. Sometimes the world is beautiful. <3

Lately I've been going for walks with our puppy, about 9:00pm, after the kids are in bed. The world is so quiet in our back field and forest...and the trails are so beautiful, and I've seen beautiful sunsets! I also love the quiet of the mornings, sitting on my porch with a hot cup of tea and waking up :)

Debbie, bread baking is absolutely heavenly isn't it? I use a bread machine every day and sometimes you can get that really lovely smell, but it isn't the same as bread in the oven.

Joyce I love those quiet moments too. I need to wake up earlier to get more of them! My quiet moments mostly happen at night these days. But then I get to see a moonrise! So it isn't that bad.

I used to be more of a night owl but as I've gotten older, and been married to an early rising farmboy, early morning have become my favorite part of the day. I like the way the air smells and the light of an early morning. The other time of day that I really enjoy outside is the couple of hours before the sun goes down...the air feels "soft"....do you know what I mean?

Yes, I do, Debbie! Last night we (hubby and I) went for a walk after the kids went to bed. We went around our property, but with 54 acres, it gives us plenty of space :) It was so beautiful, after the sun was down, and the air did feel "soft"!

We had a spectacular thunderstorm last night! I love thunderstorms too. I was talking to my sister on the phone, sitting on the porch, and it just started pouring. The thunder was so loud, and every time lightning struck, the phone would blip. The weirdest thing about it was the sky. The sky was sort of a pink or orange color the whole time. At one point I thought maybe I shouldn't be outside, like it was too dangerous or something. But I live in Indiana, I mean other than a tornado (which I don't think would happen while it was storming) there isn't really a reason to worry too much. The wind wasn't terrible, it was just a very eerie sky.

Raindrops on roses and whiskers on kittens....

We have three kittens! Born yesterday! I'll try to get a picture, but they're with mama under the stairs of our porch. Not the most accessible place!

Fall, is one of my favorite things. It is really starting to feel like fall around here. This is a sad thing for my tomato and pepper plants, but I still can't help loving it. Fall is such a short season usually, so I feel like some early days are a bonus. I saw some warmer days in the near future, so I don't think we're quite there yet, but I still am finding it hard to fight the urge to make pumpkin bread instead of zucchini bread!

Early mornings before anyone is up. I take my cup and head out to the porch. I love everything about fall. I just wish all the gorgeous colors lasted longer. I love when my grandkids open the back door and yell "Mimi are you home"

Mimi! So cute. My kids call my mom Nonnie. I was driving with my kids last Thursday and we noticed some trees with red leaves already. I couldn't believe it. I know it's been cooler but I was still surprised. Pleasantly surprised, but you're right Denise, they never last long enough!

I wanted them to call me Grammie but Mimi was started by the oldest one and seemed to stick so all of them call me that now.

Well it seems I was wrong this year about the leaves colors lasting! Some haven't even changed yet since it's been warmer lately.

After a couple days of feeling really lousy (and in the weirdest way, no fever, hot, then freezing, pain all over) this morning I got up before the rest of the family and I'm having an Americano. Which is one of my favorite things! I couldn't even drink coffee for two days, but this morning it's wonderful!

Oh Joyce! I wish I liked tea more than coffee. I'm sure it would be better for me. I enjoy tea, but it doesn't have the same warm place in my heart that coffee does! Tea can be quite delightful though.

Maybe if I had a tea set as beautiful as this I would drink more tea... :)

Today my heart is filled with gratitude to be able to spend my daughter's birthday with her today. We came to visit yesterday and I have been spending time with the two youngest getting hugs and kisses and seeing the 4 year old excited at preschool telling her teacher that Mimi and Papa were waiting for her. The oldest is 6 and is at school but will be home to spend more time with us and celebrating her mom with dinner out and cake and presents at home afterwards. They make my heart sing and I am thankful everyday for each one of my children and grandchildren.

And the colors on the trees are amazing here!!

Denise, that sounds so lovely. My kids are very young, so I'm a ways off from being a grandparent, but sometimes I think about it and how nice it must be.

Joyce, we used to have "high tea" on Sundays before Rory was in the picture. Jason always said it was just shy of barbaric with the way our boys were with their tea and sandwiches or scones, but we all had fun with it. I was for a while in search of the perfect scone recipe. I still haven't found it. Do you have one you use, Joyce?

Erin, It is nice until we have to leave them to go home. I have till Christmas and then they will be coming for a visit. I am grateful for every day as I look forward to the time we get to spend with all of them. I have 3 more grands who I know are waiting for us to come back. I love family! I have lots to do when I get home to prepare for them to visit. So much still to do on our fixing things up at our house.

Are they very far away, Denise? I live about four and a half hours from my mom, sister and brother (and the rest of extended family). It used to feel very far away, but we see each other often enough that it doesn't seem so bad anymore. My mom has said I'm not allowed to move any further east though! Of course I wish we all lived closer to each other. Jason's family is all here and that helps.

I have quite a few scone recipes, Erin. What kind were you looking for? I live across the country from mine and Tysons family, about 4000 miles.
