Ahhh, Sara, what a sweet visit from your niece and her triplets!! We grow persimmons down here in Florida and I need to try making some jam this late fall when they become ripe. Sounds delicious! What a great bonus that you had a delicious eggplant dish just from the oven for her to take home. We all know a busy mom loves a gifted homemade meal ready to go.

Denise, your little fall scenes are lovely. It always feels good to get out the little special this and thats each year to celebrate the change in seasons. I do believe I recognize a little cinnamon candle by the scarecrow!! LOL!! It looks cute with everything else and the LED light makes using it easy and safe.

Yes, Winnie you are right, that is my sweet little candle you sent me. I love using it and having the LED makes it last!

Katie, the penny rug mats I purchased at a going out of business sale. They were very inexpensive and so I took the few she had left. I love to add them here and there.

Sara, Sounds like your visit was a sweet one. I'm sure she was very grateful for the dish of goodness all ready to go. It must be quite a handful with triplets!

Marilyn thanks for letting me know you like my early morning posts.

Denise and Winnie I did enjoy my visit with the triplets. Tiffany e-mailed me today to say the family liked the eggplant pasta. Oliver woke from his nap and asked for "Aunt Sara's pasta". Gotta be the best compliment I have ever gotten.

I've been doing a lot of thinking this morning. I do that quite often. Over on our "What's Goin on in Your Kitchen" Marilyn and I have been talking about me canning potatoes, her bacon grease soup, and Dustin. Isn't that what friends do. We sit around a kitchen table and let our conversation take us where it may. Our laptops become our kitchen tables and we gather to talk and through the ebb & flow of our conversation we will touch on many things some practical, others funny, and like today we also talk about sadness and lost.

That is true Sara. Every time my family travels away from home, I pray for days ahead of time, while they are gone and when God delivers them safely home once more I say thank you. They are trave!ing today and tomorrow so I will be spending a good bit of time with Him!
I was telling you about Bart, the sad part, but he was such a special kid I must tell you a happy story. I found myself subbing in the high school math class for over a week. After a couple of days, I realized I had to think outside of the box. So I told the kids they would take turns teaching the class...as they checked a set of papers. When it was 15 year old Bart's turn he was amazing..a natural teacher. He was calm, cool, never nervous, never rattled. He talked to the kids the way the coaches do. I was so amazed, this middle child, with the squirley little brother, was a natural. When he finished and returned to his seat, I asked him what he wanted to be when he grew up. His answer made my heart sing! He wanted to be a teacher/coach so he could help kids. So, I think his wish came true and he is in heaven teaching and coaching and helping kids.

Marilyn, Thanks for sharing that sweet story. I will have to go over to the other thread and read the beginning.

We are in for some rain from Nate today. It is coming down pretty good right now. But we haven't had to much rain so it will green everything up again. Of course we will lose lots of our leaves too.

I have an appointment this morning and then I plan to do some work in the bedrooms. I have already started on some of my Christmas gifts and need to get them wrapped and put away. When the grands come over I like to have everything out of sight. I will have them overnight tonight as Charlie has an early morning appt at the hospital. Much easier to keep them over so they get the sleep they need and mom doesn't have to worry about getting so many ready. Though they've been known to come over in their jammies. Anyway this is easier all around.

Carole, I hope all is going well with wrapping things up at the shoppe. Maybe you can take a good rest for a bit when it is done.

Wishing you all an enjoyable day whatever you do today!

Denise~~

Now on to better news...I had Lazer treatment #6 today, then a visit with the doctor. He asked me to do four more treatments, on Mondays and Thursdays, and see him again on the 23rd of October. His opinion is I will need surgery...but he was very surprised at what I could do with my leg today. I could lift it up, a lot further than two weeks ago. He also turned the wheels on my brace so I can move the knee a bit as I walk. Not a total peg leg anymore. Yea!!

Marilyn,
Glad to hear you are doing better!

Tori and Levi are here today so we will be busy getting some things done around here. They like to help out whenever they are here. They don't like to help at home though. Isn't that always the way? Always more fun at someone else's house.

The rain finally stopped last night and the sunshine is out in full force today. Waiting on some cooler temps but it is still much warmer than it should be for October. We always have a warm spell during this month though. Almost like we've gone back to summer.

Have a great day!

Denise enjoy the grandkids.

Marilyn glad you are doing better.

Cool this morning. Long sleeve weather. I have my plaid shirt on. Not cold enough for flannel yet. Don't know if young girls still do it but I remember when we use to call each other when the seasons changed to see what to wear. Didn't want to be the only girl in class with a sleeveless blouse or sweater on. That was when I was 15 or 16 - now at 75 I could care less what others are doing as long as I am cool or warm but most of all comfortable.

Well we are rather quiet today. Is it chilly at your places like it is here? 50° this morning feels like crispy October should feel. My knee still requires Advil, but getting the big pain meds out of my brain should help me think and remember better. I continue to scare myself with the sensation of falling backwards so I must keep a crutch handy and be very careful.

Winnie enjoy your visit. It's great you will be joining in on your friend's 10 year celebration.

Didn't wake till 9 this morning so I feel as if I was behind before I even got started. lol

Will put off going to the grocery store until in the morning. Good day to stay in my gown & robe and work on chapter three of my cozy mystery. Would like to finish it today with a brand new murder out on Cemetery Road.

So much for me to catch up on.

Glad you are better Marilyn.

Shannon hope all is better at your house. You sure have a lot to handle.

Sara glad you got to visit with the kids. Making memories. The food sounds really good. Never had persimmon jam.

Denise you are so organized. I use to get Christmas gifts early too.
Love the Fall decorating. So cute!

My daughter and I got back from England and Wales a couple of days ago. It was so much fun. A very beautiful country! We spent 18 days there. Went to a sheep farm in Wales. They showed our group how sheep are sheared which I already new, but it was still special to be standing on a mountain in Wales and watching the process. I purchased the fleece from them. Can't wait to get it. It's being cleaned and washed first.

Trying to figure out how to post pictures. Will post soon.

Here are a few pictures of England and Wales
I believe the first one is in Keswick, second is the Tower of London, third is In Bath, fourth is sheep in Wales

We went with a Rick Steve's Tour. They keep their tour groups small 24 to 28 people. It sure was nice to have everything taken care of. Transportation, hotels, most of our meals, etc. We also got to go places that we wouldn't be able to go on our own. It was a once in a lifetime trip for us. We waited and saved for a long time.

Love that sheep are allowed all over in Wales. Also dogs are welcome in most places. Stores, restaurants, bakeries. As long as the dog is well behaved and on a leash. Sure doesn't happen here except in pet stores.
