New life is what we need to cheer us up! Self control is what the rioting idiots need. Ugh, I'm not proud of that kind of behavior.

Congratulations Great Grandma and welcome to this crazy world Harper! I wouldn't worry about the weight; my granddaughter and I were both 5lbs 15 oz and we grew up just fine.

They have posted three photos. He is wrapped tightly in his blankee! I commented on his chubby cheeks. Bay said he is so tiny...maybe that made his cheeks chubby. And I laughed at her reasoning.

So happy for you and Baylee, Marilyn. She and her hubby will love the sleepless nights and all the love that comes with them. LOL! Are they still in the hospital?

I was almost a month late and still around 5# so all will be well.

Do any of you have special places you decorate and call all your own for reading or somewhere you enjoy spending your time at home? Someplace you don't share as a spare bedroom or where others use the space too?

I am blessed to have a bedroom that is just my sewing room. I "hide out" in there a lot...haha! I have all of my Farmgirl things in there and some favorite pictures on the wall. I also have a small tv if I want to listen to something while I'm working.
I have always thought it would be fun to have a reading/prayer corner somewhere. We have a weird kind of niche in our dining room, on one side of the closet under the stairs. We used to have the treadmill back there (I didn't like having a treadmill in the dining room of all places...but it fit and for lack of another place to put it....and it was nice to look out the windows while I was walking). Now that it got moved to the back bedroom, it's empty. I was just thinking I should figure out someway to fix it up as a quiet corner.

Congratulations, Marilyn on the arrival of your new great Grandbaby!! I al so happy to hear that everything is fine. Enjoy your new baby to spoil at Grandma's house!!

I don't have a reading nook per say. If the weather is warm, I always go out on the porch, but when the weather isn't nice, I like to read at the little kitchen table we have which is beside a small electric stove that looks like an old fashioned one. It is nice and cozy and close to the coffee pot or microwave for a cup of something warm to enjoy with the book.

I love to take a coffee pot, carafe,or tea pot, cup etc, a good book and a big quilt or blanket and go sit on the porch of my little sewing house. It is most fun, and soul healing when the drizzle of spring rain is gently touching the vintage tin roof.
During my last year as daycare director, I bought a copy of Mary Jane's Farm magazine. I read it and cried. I cried because I was working almost 14 hours a day. I did not shop for food for our home. I barely cooked.I had no time to sew or putter in the soil. I loved the children and the staff...but somehow I had lost me. So a few times that spring I would get things rolling at the daycare, then I would tell someone I had an errand to run. That usually meant we needed snax or supplies for some class.
That meant it was time for me to go to Wal-Mart! But not on my special Days. My reading material was a magazine or book I had bought from MJF. I only allowed myself to play for about an hour but when I got into my car to drive back to town...I always told God thank you for that wonderful gift.

We have a library but it is in the center of everything. So I have my quiet time in the mornings at the dining room table. I am home alone a lot but I have thought it would be nice to have a room or someplace where I can have things out and not have to worry about putting it all away because someone is staying in there. We have one very tiny room that we have for guests and the grands have bunk beds in the sewing room.

Winnie, is your log cabin room a bedroom too?

My quilt room has a tv so I can watch, or at least have background noise, when I am sewing. I have a chair on a round rug in one corner by the fabric and book cubbies, but it is not comfortable, and I'd like to get a more comfortable chair for that spot. At the farmhouse I sewed on the dining room table, so that room - right in the center of the house - was always busy and visible. At least now I can shut the door and close off the mess.
