Ed has had pygmy goats. They are so cute - they have more energy jumping around and climbing on stuff. LOL! He'd love to get some more.

Growing up in Illinois we always started school the day after Labor Day and went til the middle of June. I think they have since changed the starting and ending dates, but it doesn't affect me so I don't know what they are. LOL! In the winter sometimes if the boiler didn't work to heat the school they would cancel for a day, but sometimes started late, too.

My son had a pet pygmy goat. We all loved Nanny. One summer night when the kids were sleeping outside I went out to check on them before I went to bed and found Tim and Nanny together in the sleeping bag.
School here used to start the day after Labor Day. I have no idea when it starts now but I know it's different.

Ohh those flowers are gorgeous, Denise! I agree about the sales discussion. Anytime I find something really special, I love it ! Since the pandemic and then breast cancer stuff, it has been ages since I really got out and poked around in thrift stores or some of my favorite antique malls. Once I get the green light that my immune system has also recovered from all the radiation, I will be getting back to poking around. Lots of people I know have been getting the new Covid variant and becoming really sick for about a week. Nobody was hospitalized but I just don't want to get real sick with anything right now. I need to recover from the past 4 months and have a stronger immune profile before I venture into crowded spaces where people no longer mask up.

I know when you sell a house it is no longer yours, however I am hating what the new owners of my former 1902 farmhouse are doing to the house I sold 2 years ago. I think this could have been a considered a historical landmark, because all the older and middle aged people in town knew the original owner of this house because from the time she graduated from college she taught in the school there and either they or their siblings or children had her for a teacher.

Well, they painted the ENTIRE outside of the house black and added non-period windows and doors to the house. In the picture of the side of the house near the back you can see the kitchen window they added, and to do this they had to remove all of the kitchen cabinets I had added just 7 years before. They have also removed walls and redone a lot of the inside of the house. My realtor thinks they are redoing it as a modern farmhouse style. I am including before and after pictures of the house.

I did google Painted Black Houses and it seems the trend for painting modern houses IS black. I don't think a 1902 house is "modern" though. LOL! And to me this looks like a haunted house. It is not to my liking.

Before - while I had the house:

After they painted it:
Front

Right Side (windows are Living room (1), dining room (2), and kitchen):

Left side (bedroom, bath, bedroom, bath):

What do you'all think?

Yuck. I think it will be hot in the summer. The same thing happened to my fathers house when we sold it. They totally gutted the inside. My daughter did the walk-thru when they were done with the 2 year remodel and mailed me pictures. It was totally unrecognizable. And the price tripled. I wasn't happy.

The price of this house hasn't gone up much since I sold it, and they paid cash for what I listed it for and it was more than I thought I'd get.

They still haven't moved into the house, either.

I don't want to see the 1897 farmhouse we sold in Jersey. I'm sure they changed a lot. Though probably not windows.

Linda, I am totally not a fan of what they’ve done. It looked so cute when you had it. Now it looks odd. :(

Oh this is very sad to see!! Linda, I agree with you that they really ruined a historic old farmhouse. There is no accounting for people's taste and I bet they love the new look they came up with.

Cute cup and tee, Denise.
I always loved school, and the beginning of each new school year with brand new boxes of crayons. During my last seven years of public school, I could be caught in Wal-Mart in the school supply isle...opening boxes of new crayons and inhaling deeply. I love that scent! For 23 years I had taught little guys, so I got to smell those crayons all day every day. Teaching art I had crayons for the kids to use but not brand new boxes! I ordered boxes of 100 of each of the eight colors. Then for the older kids I would mix in some of the fun colors.

Ed and I will be off to Albuquerque tomorrow or Wednesday for 1-1/2 to 2 weeks. Seems I have been elected to see what's needed for my brother. The hospital is full and he is still in an OR exam room. I don't know if he's had a rude awakening and it scared him or if he is just saying what he thinks people want to hear, but he has become very agreeable instead of argumentative. He has been so depressed and just keeps saying he hates being in Albuquerque but doesn't like any of his 3 siblings suggestions to try. He is so weak he definitely needs rehabilitation - yesterday he was even having trouble feeding himself. They said he is eating better, though. So that should help. Thanks for all the prayers and please keep them coming.

I'm taking sewing machine and some easy projects to finish because I may need something to relax with. However, sometimes I do this and never get to work on one of them. LOL!
