We only get one life. So we should fill it with good stuff like love, kindness, laughter....and hot chocolate!

Ohh, I like this quote and that photo of an old colonial home! I agree with what is recommended too.

I came across this quote the other day and wrote it down to share. "What one loves in childhood stays in the heart forever." by Mary Jo Pitney. I can think of lots of things I loved as a child that I still love today so this quote is true for me. What about any of you?

Winnie,
I think that is a very true statement. Our childhood does help to make us who we are and there are many things that I loved then that I still do now

So very true: Cats, books, picking up pretty rocks, petting moss, the smell of the rain, actually the whole outdoor world when the weather is nice, solitude.

Interesting little tidbit I found on Facebook. The minister who shared it officiated at our wedding. It is the inside of the church where we were married. It's a little country church. That's all any of the churches were where I grew up.

I love old country churches! I find that they give off a very welcoming and personal feeling inside. This photo is lovely with the sun coming through the stain glass windows.

There are a million songs to write about home
About the soft grass and the tall trees
About the door that opens to the right and never closes as it should
And the window where the morning light streams in and the night first appears

There is the tune of her strong floors, with the scuffs that show where things were moved and where things were dropped
The lyric of the rug with the frayed edge where the rocking chair wore it down
And the harmony of her squeaking step and the vibrating hum of the attic fan

There is the melody of the bread rising and the cakes baking
Of the burlap bags and the old tin cans
And the rhythmic percussion of the percolating coffee

There is the refrain of the eggs scrambling in the morning chill
Of the cupboard with the broken latch
And the soft aprons folded among the flour sacks

There are a million songs to write about home
And all of them are mine.

This is written and copyrighted by my friend Sherry.

This was written by a friend. Thought I would share here.

"When I was growing up, a handmade quilt was one of the most treasured gifts a person could receive. Some quilts were made by a single person, but more often than not, a quilt was made by a circle of friends whose loving hands carefully created each stitch. The quilters would meet regularly and gather around a large table or loom. There, they each would work on a section of the blanket that would turn into an heirloom. While cutting, ironing, or stitching, the crafters would laugh and talk. They would tell stories about their children or their parents, or how last night's supper turned out. They would sing hymns as their labors continued.

A quilt was often sewn for a bride-to-be who would use it in her household for many years to come before passing it on to the next generation. The Nine Patch, The Eight-Pointed Star, The Log Cabin, The Wedding Ring, The Grandmother's Flower Garden. These patterns, made by loving hands, moved into a future that would be characterized by days of ups and downs, good and bad, sickness and health, joy and sadness, life and death.

The quilt represented a legacy of sorts. It represented a legacy of community and craft, of laughter and love, of hope and promise. It was a visual reminder that life goes on.

A handmade quilt is more than a blanket on the bed. It's a hug around the heart."

Thank you Denise for this insight. As I look at the piles of quilts I have made I realize they will be hugs to my family and friends when I am gone.
