Cute, cute cute!! I hope everyone had a nice weekend. Ours was in the 90s Friday and Saturday, but today has been cooler and windy as a cooler front is moving through. Thanks goodness! I am NOT ready for the summer heat!

Winnie,
It was cooler yesterday and today both in the 50s. We have a freeze warning for tonight. Then tomorrow is 50s too.

Me too Karen but not the 90s that's for sure. One thing I loved when we lived in Hawaii was the nice steady tempscin the 80s year round.

How do we recognize love? We see it in clean clothes hanging on the line bright and early on a Monday morning. We see it in a freshly mowed lawn and watered flowers. We see it in beds that are neatly made, fresh hand towels near the bathroom sink, and rugs that are being aired over the garden fence. We see love in beans prepared on the stove and a cornbread cake that's hot in the iron skillet.

Love is an action word and sometimes we have to look for it to find it.

Lilac Morning

Those days are long gone now,
Like dreams that have passed.
In my mind I can still see the dirt road where we walked and the pink dogwood we climbed in the backyard.
I can feel the cool water of the stream where we waded with bare feet against the smooth pebbles.

I made dandelion chains to busy my hands,
As you caught tadpoles in grandpa's pond.
In the early morning mist, we could smell the biscuits
as they baked in the oven under mama's close supervision.

We collected the scuppernongs, fresh from the vine, as the afternoon sun warmed our faces.
Remember the old cane basket we carried to gather the wild blackberries? Our young hands bore the stains of our labors.

Where have the years gone?
How did the crabapple meadow become overgrown?
I long for one more moment there with the dew beneath my step,
where we breathed in the fresh air of the Lilac Morning.

"There was beauty on Waltons Mountain at any time of the year. But, looking back, the time I treasure most is spring when the days were growing longer and the promise of summer was ahead. They were the kind of days made for dreaming."

Dishes to wash and clothes to mend,
And always another meal to plan,
Never the tasks of a mother end
And oh, so early her day began!
Floors to sweep and pies to bake,
And chairs to dust and the beds to make.

Oh, the home is fair when you come at night
And the meal is good and the children gay,
And the kettle sings in its glad delight
And the mother smiles in her gentle way;
So great her love that you seldom see
Or catch a hint of the drudgery.

Home, you say, when the day is done,
Home to comfort and peace and rest;
Home where the children romp and run -
There is the place that you love the best!
Yet what would home be like if you
Had all of its endless tasks to do?

Would it be home if she were not there,
Brave and gentle and fond and true?
Could you so fragrant a meal prepare?
Could you the numberless duties do?
What were the home that you love so much,
Lacking her presence and gracious touch?

She is the spirit of all that's fair;
She is the home you think you build;
She is the beauty you dream of there;
She is the laughter with which it's filled -
She, with her love and her gentle smile,
Is all that maketh the home worthwhile.
