Brenda-

Some are new and some are henhouses of chapters that meet more often face-to-face.

Okay, that makes more sense then-- I'm still not sure which one. I saw some didn't have posts yet, so I thought maybe they were new?

Hi Brenda-

You can join as many chapters as you wish, so don't worry if you are torn between several chapters! Some chapters are the meet-in-person type and some are virtual and some are a lovely mix of the two. Mostly, you will have to ask the chapter leader in charge which is which. A general rule of thumb- the virtual chapters are going to be more "chatty" over in the Henhouses than chapters who meet up in person. Also, if you are looking at the henhouses, the only person who can post in the bulletin board area is the Chapter Leader. I hope that helped!

I'm confused as to how we decide which chapter to join? Not all are regional are they? Are these the virtual chapters or the off line ones?
Sorry to be so slow!

Jana (Feythe) What a great idea. Each chapter leader can post something like that in the Bulletin Board section of the Henhouse. I hadn't thought of doing that until you mentioned it, but I certainly am going to now! Thanks for the clever idea!

Okay ... I've been through each of the Hen Houses, reading bios, project discussions, and so on. A picture seems to be emerging ... sort of. I get that each Hen House has the same categories for postings. I see that hens can belong to more than one house.

It seems like it might be helpful if each Hen House had some kind of a welcome or introduction statement or loosely defined purpose statement so that potential hens could get an idea of what brings that House together. Or ... am I just way too novice at forums to 'get' how something like this works?

Sincerely,
Jana

Thanks so much Alee - I appreciate getting this tip! I'll read through all of the hen houses and see what's a good match.

I just read a few entries on your blog. I'm relieved for you that your hit-and-run driver has insurance. Must have been time for a new car for you for some reason. I hope it turns out to be one you love even more than old faithful.

Sincerely,

Hi Jana!

You need to email the chapter leader and ask to be a member. Then the chapter leader has to get you signed up through our Henhouse leader- Jen. Please let me know if you need any help locating a chapter leader!

Dear Sister Farmgirls,
I found the hen houses, but don't know how they work! Do you ask to be a member (if the house isn't limited by geography or other characteristic)? Are you invited to be a member? I've been looking for more info on how the hen houses work, but haven't found it.

There isn't a secret password for the henhouses, just sign in with your username and password from the main MJF forum (this one). If you are a chapter leader and you would like a henhouse, you need to let the farm know as they will need to know the first and last name of all Sisterhood members of your chapter so they can give posting access to the right people. Contact Jen@maryjanesfarm.org to request a henhouse! They are so much fun!

PS to Annika-

I just visited your blog sites and realized that the name of your chapter is Mud Hens--how cute! I just love the photos on your site--did you take all those???? They are awesome-especially winter moon! ANd the goats are too too cute--can't wait to have room for some myself! Also, I have some of that blue catmint that drew our attention last summer when it bloomed. I hadn't noticed it before and wasn't sure if it was catmint or not, but it did resemble in smell and looks!

Good luck with your patch--I'll let you know when I get something designed myself!

Mud boots and lavender sounds wonderful--how original!! I don't know what mine will be because I need a couple more ladies to form a chapter and then have to come up with a name. What is the name of your chapter???

Carrie, welcome to the hen houses. I'm trying to do a badge if I can recruit an artist of some kind. I'm not much beyond stick men myself. What's your logo going to be? I'm doing mud boots and lavender wreath or bunch...

Carrie-

It is up to the chapters if they want to have a badge or not. The Book Worms combed the web and found some cute free domain images and we will be voting on them this week. But not all chapters choose to do one.
