I had this question under another topic but thought I would put it here to get some answers.
I got my tomatoes planted fairly early but the flood took care of those. Just a few made it thru and are just now blooming. A few peppers made it thru too but zucchini, cukes, corn didn't make it and I think it is too late to plant now. Do you think zucchini's would have enough time to make it? Our first frost is usually mid October but this year, who knows?
In just a couple of months, we had an earthquake, flood, and hail storm. Enough already.

Patsy I am also from Illinois and having to re-plant some of my garden too because of the flood. I put in my cucumbers and squash again this week. So, I would say yes to planting zucchini! Good luck!

Mine just came up and I know we won't get any until August..but that is very ordinary for here...we get most of our garden harvest in August...some in July. I only managed to get golden zuchinni planted this year...but I KNOW I will be offered all the green zuchinni I will take..all my friends always over plant it. I planted two hills of Hopi Pale Grey squash this year ..can hardly wait for that..it is a favorite and a good keeper. I hope it does well.
In answer to your question...I would still plant some zuchinni, even now...worst case you waste a few seeds...more likely you will get some yummy wonderful zukes...worth a try in my book!!

I just started zuke seeds here because I got some old ones that didn't sprout and I figure I can squeeze them in the garden and at least get a few before we frost in the first week of September. 45 days really isn't as long as it sounds. I'd go for it.

My family is from Il! They soy/corn farm, but no zukes! However, I know that here in Tx, you can plant it now...but we don't frost in my area until LATE November, if even then. Good luck!

If you weren't planting from seed, I'd say they may have a chance. Zuchinni and most squash family love the heat, but not a drought that's for sure. Is there anywhere you can get some plants already started? (check your local feed/seed store)It usually takes about 45-50 days on average before harvest.
You can always check the Farmers Almanac to see when you're zone's projected first frost date is, and it will have charts for the latest time to plant certain things as well, including winter crops. http://www.almanac.com/
Good luck with the zuchinni if you plant any. Hope the Almanac can help ya.
