Posted - Jun 26 2009 : 6:31:39 PM A few years ago on the Carol Davulle (sp) Show on HGTV had Helen Gibbs demonstrating the most beautiful ribbon work. She also has books out and they are beautiful. It is not very hard to do. I like to do crazy quilts and I use silk embroidery for decoration in some of the blocks. I purchased my ribbons at Hobby Lobby. I don't know if you can go to HGTV OR DIY and look at their programing and see videos on ribbon work. I am on the old dial up network and I never even try to watch videos. Sarita

Posted - Jun 20 2009 : 10:11:56 AM Check e-bay, tons of silk ribbon there and books as well. Also Amazon.com has books on SRE. A few years ago it was really popular here in Washington and most of the quilt stores carried supplies. Check your fabric stores too. Kathy |

Posted - Jun 19 2009 : 08:14:05 AM I got hooked on ribbon embroidery and stumpwork last year. Finding supplies was difficult. I would recommend the author Di van Niekerk, she is an artist that has mastered the craft. Her books are amazing. There is a store here in Southern California, called Peacemakers, they have a website, I'm sure you could order from them. They have the very best selection. If you can't locate them, there is a store across the street from my business that carries it. I would be more than happy to send you some if you want. LisaLu

Posted - Jun 08 2009 : 8:59:52 PM Thanks for your advice Hosanna! I think ribbon embroidery is so beautiful,I did look at the Hobby Lobby here but I guess they quit carrying the silk ribbons so I ordered a collection of colors from a sewing catalog to get started and then the other day i lucked out and found a basic book at the thrift store for 2.00,I was pretty happy, you never know what you're going to find at those places! I have yet to get started but look forward to when I get my supplies!

Posted - Jun 07 2009 : 05:32:32 AM I love silk ribbon embroidery; and is is not as complicated as it looks. I love the texture achieved from ribbon embroidery. I found the silk ribbons at Hobby Lobby in my town; but there are limited shades of it. I ran out of one pink color for a project and have never found a match for it; so make sure you get a good quantity of what you need for a project. It was around $3 for about three yards, maybe less, when I bought it. Good luck with your endeavor; I'm sure you will enjoy it. |

Posted - Jun 03 2009 : 11:06:37 AM You can buy silk ribbon on line from Martha Pullen.com or from Newark Dressmakers Supply. Newarks sells a nice sampler package for a reasonable price. Watch for Martha's Sewing Room on PBS - they have an Australian gal that does demos off and on that are really precise and worth watching.
