I wanted to share this cause the instructions I read for processing this on one of my friends blogs did not sound safe to me. This was really bugging me, so I did some searching online and I found a good explanation on why not to "can" butter. Here is the link http://www.uga.edu/nchfp/questions/FAQ_canning.html#33 I don't want anyone to get sick doing this.

I freeze my butter too, and would store oils for emergency, I just wanted to share this in case others were thinking of trying this

just read the article and I would not advise trying to store it that way. Seems it would go rancid pretty fast. Besides butter is so readily available and like they said if it is because someone is thinking of emergency food supplies then I would think they would use an oil or something powdered maybe.
thanks for the info Kathy!

I have never heard of canning butter. I thought most folks just froze it. I do.
