This past weekend, our Sisterhood Chapter, 'CT Simpler Life Sisters" had a real ball! We had such a great girls' weekend! Saturday we took an "Organic Homesteading Class" at a farm in Cornwall, CT. Many of us brought our daughters, too. We milked a cow, rendered lard, harvested and ground up wheat for flour, churned butter, gathered eggs, learned to tap a tree for maple syrup, ground spices, picked squash, and all baked a pie from our efforts (All done outside, including rolling the pie crust). The class ended with a pot-luck lunch outside in the sun. It was an experience I think none of us will forget, and the kids will have a lasting memory for sure. This is a picture of the cow we learned to milk. She was so precious and gentle. Look at those eyes! Isn't she just the sweetest??

It was most definitely a day to remember. Isn't that cow just a doll?! She was so gentle. We were so lucky to get to have that day. It was perfect weather, and a great bonding experience for all of us in the chapter.

It was SO MUCH FUN!! We made pumpkin pie (but we used butternut squash which we picked ourselves that morning - part of the whole farm experience).
