Hey all, after almost a week and a half of no internet connection I now have connection....I am still in Germany and loving it,,,it will be sad to have to return back to the USA and leave family behind..but I have family waiting at home...and I miss them & my kitties....
I had hoped to meet up with the 3 MJF gals here but as it turns out we are spread out to far and I have to depend on my family to drive me everywhere...
Today is Good Friday and we are getting ready to start the noon meal...Maultasch, a specialty around here in Swebbaisch region.
Ok, off to read(finaly) all me emails....
Happy Easter to all my Farmgirlfriends
....

p.s., things have sure changed in 7 years...they now have Malls, and yes, a Starbucks on (every other) corner! lol!

Debbie,
I spent most of my time in Meimshein, Leingarten, Flien & Heilbronn...where my family is scattered.
I had planned on meeting up with some MJF sisters who (military) are stationed in Germany, but I was unable to break away from family.

Maryjane 2piap.... nope, no Gary,( he had to stay home & babysit the furbabies) so I took my mom back to visit her brother & step sister.

I've never been out of the country, but I would love to go to Germany! I know I must have family over there from a couple of generations ago. My grandfather traveled back and forth often!

Hi Grace, what city in Germany are you visiting, I think I missed that part. We lived in Germany for 10 years while my hubby was in the military and we did not want to go home when it was time to rotate.
I told my German girlfriend here about the mall and Starbucks and she just could not believe it. She is from a small town Esslingen and there is not Starbucks there!
Thank you for sharing the photo and a bit of the fun time you are having.
Farm girl Hugs,
Debbie

Grace- What a fun time it sounds like you are having! I personally wish that more American cities out west had better public transportation and that people would be more willing to walk or take a bus. It's such a shame that more people don't try to live within walking distance of the things they need. It would certainly support the smaller "corner market" type places.

Maybe I should make that my goal- next time I want something quick from the store- I walk there. If I don't want to walk...I don't need it...

Yep, it is for sure different,,,here we drink w/o ice cubes, where as in USA we serve everything w/ice cubes...
That is the one thing I miss, a tall glass of iced sweet tea...
I am amazed at the number of Malls , shopping galleries and discount stores...just 7 years ago there were not even half as many in our region)...
But every time I return, I revert back into German mode, eat, drink and walk everywhere & love it.

Grace, I would so love to go there. My family is from Germany, the Black Forest. My maiden name is Schwab. My neice and nephew were both born there while my brother was in the army. They came back to Ga. in Aug. They got sick real fast. It's cool in Germany and it was really hot here. They never even had AC there. Or malls back then. They are 23 and 21 now. I would love to go someday. I'm so glad you're having such a good time. How long will you be there?

Happy to be a "Raggedy Ann" in a Barbie World!

I get up every morning determined to both change the world and have one hell of a good time. Sometimes this makes planning my day difficult.
