I never did find any here. I so wanted to find some. I don't know if it's already too late but I am still looking.

Angela, I read about people using them for arthritis. I laughed so hard when I read it. They said they really didn't know if it worked or not, but it sure took their mind off the arthritis for awhile.

wow angela- you are a brave woman. i knew about stinging nettles before but had never actually seen any untill last summer. lets just say i learned what they looked like the hard way. we moved here in nov of 09 and the ppl who lived here B4 us must now have cared for the yard at all. last summer i was trying to deflower all the thistles B4 they went to seed by using pruning shears and cutting stalks. well the thistle patch was surrounded ny nettles. not fun- lol, but a learning experience for sure. i havested a walmart sack over half full for tea yeasterday and barely made a dent in the patch. Thanks for the great info everyone. Hugs, C

I have used them for my arthritis. It's not for the faint of heart, but it works well. I would rub my hands through the nettles and then do a little dance for 10 or 15 minutes. Then, when I thought I'd pee myself from it, I'd put my hands in ice water and then wash them. They throb and ache for the rest of the day, but I wake up feelin better in the mornin and only have to do it once or twice a month.

All in all, it's a better option for me than continual medicine. Pills make me sleepy, then I get nothin done!

We have made a nettle pesto (just google it) Have made a dip with it. Heres's a soup http://fat-of-the-land.blogspot.com/2009/01/stinging-nettle-potato-leek-soup.html. Fat of the land has lots of other recipes. You have to get them young. Oh also google nettle spaetzle. Can't get my hands on the recipe right now. JoAnn

Crystal,
I remember reading somewhere (I should write these things down) about pickled nettles. That should keep the soggy factor away if you don't care for cooked greens. Even steaming them should take away the "sting" which is the main reason for cooking them I believe.

Nettles tea is very good iced, too. You're lucky to have a patch! Just be careful harvesting it. When it's dry, you don't have to worry, but I'm sure you know how this plant got its name! :-)

My husband loves nettles tea, we dry the nettles and then he just puts them into a ziplock bag and uses them in a tea ball with hot water and a tiny bit of honey. I do believe it's his favorite of all teas.

Eat them LOL! Saute them and use them like spinach.
Make nettle tea to drink or use as a hair rinse. Nettle is good for you, inside and out :) .
Here's a link to a how-to for my favorite herbal remedy using nettle: http://stillroomherbs.blogspot.com/2011/05/nettle-honey-allergy-relief.html
