I know this is a thread for farmgirl's birthdays, so I'd like to honor the truest, original, purist of heart farmgirl it has ever been my privilege to know. Today would have been my Great Grandma's (PaPaw)122nd birthday. She had a very, very hard life, yet through it all, she was a hard working, loving, patient, gentle soul. Her (drunk, no-account...*sorry)husband left her with a small farm in Tulsa Ok, where she alone raised 6 children, a milk cow, and most of her grandchildren. She mended at night for income, gardened in the morning for food, baked for others to give encouragment at dusk, churned butter at dawn, and was a prayer warrior all day long. How blessed we were to have her as the matriarh of our family.
My favorite memory of this precious woman, was watching her pull her bobby pins from her ankel length snow white hair, to bursh it 100 strokes, before winding it back up into her daily bun.

Happy birthday PaPa! You are dearly loved, and sorely missed.

The tears I shed then, watered the flowers I harvest now.

Annette~ What a lovely tribute and wonderful picture. My nonnie was 98 years old when she passed away 21 years ago. She missed the birth of my daughter by a few months. Sara Jane is her gret-great grandaughter. Nonnie was a feisty lady. She came over from Italy when she was a child. I have her trunk in my living room. It went through Ellis Island - it is just remarkable to look at it and think about her journey .

Thanks Nini! We were so blessed! Sometimes I wonder if God creates a human version ofan angel. If He does, He sent us one in PaPa
