My SCOBY motel is getting full so I have about 15 SCOBY's to give away. I'll send them out to anyone who asks.

I would love other cultures like, water kefir grains, a cheese rennet, or Locally grown canned food like Olives, Jams or jelly I can't get in Kansas like prickly pear or agave. Surprise me!

edit:

I thought long and hard this is what I was thinking.
Unusual Found Items • Vintage Flour Sack Towels • Clockwork pieces • Embroidery thread • Sewing threads • Unique Stamps • Ribbons • Rag dolls • Paper Roses • Tea like a fruity Rooibos, or a black tea • Buttons • Fabric Pinwheels • (good) Smelly things • Folded Greeting Cards • Paper Dolls • Dried flowers • Button Fairies • Bottle Caps • Charms • Vintage Handkerchiefs, and ATC's

Hope this helps I have never swapped so I didn't know what to put there originally.

I'm loving this scoby conversation. I would love some from whoever has some to share. Never made the Kombucha tea before or anything else with scoby either so any instruction on the process would be much appreciated. Lyn, I see you are from Small Town, MI. Is that actually a town or a description of a town? I'm from Michigan also. If we are close we might meet to swap the scoby for something I might have.

Synergy is kombucha. It's ok, but I like G.T. dave's better. Don't really like the flavors for synergy.

I had one mailed to me and it is still going.
It was wrapped in a triple zip-locks and some of the tea.
I put it in the jar and off it went.

Did anyone ever figure out a good way to send them quickly and leak proof through the mail, last time I tried they all came back to be dead.

Have you heard of the drink Synergy? This has kombuchu in it? Is it supposed to be tangy?

I saw that, too...so cool- except in the rain! LOL!

You can take the girl from the farm, but never the farm from the girl.

I too, have several kombucha scoby that need homes ASAP.

At this point I most need shampoo. Does anyone make that? I am also getting ready to move so packaging tape or anything helpful towards moving would be welcome.

Life's short. Make today count.

If you still have scoby left, I would love some.

Oh by the way anyone who has sent me their addy is getting the culture sent out tomorrow. I'm not shipping it in any liquid I experimented with several cultures to see if they will survive like that and they will. I included ways to start Kombucha tea in my instructions without any Kombucha starter liquid. If you want to skip this process you can start your own batch using GT's organic raw Kombucha Original. It's in a clear bottle with white top and blue and white label. You can find it at most health food stores. I have a health food store that has an entire isle of Kombucha tea. One thing I forgot to mention if you heat for hot tea that will kill all bacterias in the tea.

Andrea the fermented tea is the goal you drink it for a healthy gut and a more alkaline environment in your tummy. You can can drink your first fermentation of Kombucha tea but I always think it's a tiny bit bitter so I just use the tea from the first batch to make another batch. It's a much tastier tea you use your last Kombucha to make more that way it has a nice clean taste and the cider vinegar flavor is more mild.

Just to let anyone that needs to know about shipping, if you ship it be sure it is something that will not leak, I have shipped some before and one leaked and the PO wasn't too happy with me...lol...so after that I sealed them in 4 ziplock bags then wrapped in plastic wrap then in another bag...lol...then in a hard container that I wrapped in plastic wrap again..I wanted to be sure that it didn't leak again...I made my mistake when I tried to put to much liquid in a zip lock bag and didn't leave enough room and it got squished...which caused the leaking The person I got my first Scoby from just put it in two ziplog bags and it made it without leaking...but hers was only the size of a quarter and mine were the size of a gallon glass jar...hope that helps about shipping....good idea to ship them before it gets to hot, too...

I have a question about making the SCOBY. After you've made your first SCOBY, what do you do with the tea? Throw it out or can you consume it since it's been out on the counter for weeks growing? I'm unclear about this part.

I understand how to make my own Kombucha once I have the SCOBY, but if you are creating your own first SCOBY, not sure what to do with that.

Also, does heating up the Kombucha for hot tea destroy it or do you need to always drink it cold?

Thanks!!

Sure do just send me your address, anyone who I didn't send one to please resend you address
