This is for all the "prepper" gals who stash away emergency food... what luxuries are working their way into your prepper pantry?

Me, I added bakers chocolate and torani syrup (hazelnut) for coffee! LOL!!
Just a few extra for the "don't touch" part of the pantry-- for a rainy day. In a disaster I think I will definitely need chocolate and flavored coffee! ;)

I think I may look for a semi sweet chocolate that keeps well and is inexpensive... chocolate chips maybe? I could see chocolate becoming currency in the right situation!

The problem on keeping chocolate for emergencies is that if it rains...even just a few drops...I'm going after that chocolate!! lol A splinter in your finger counts as a Chocolate Emergency in my book. :)

I try to get things on sale and stock up when we can. Since my husband lost his job we used a great majority of the pantry up so I will have to start over but I am so glad I had been stocking up or we would have went hungry! It sure doesn't hurt to have a little extra just in case for some random hard times! But like it was mentioned before, don't stock up on stuff you don't already eat :)

Fran, I couldn't agree with you more. That made me giggle, and then seriously consider how much I would want chocolate and coffee! I will have to add it to my list. ;)

Coffee and Werthers candy! I also have some card games and such for all ages. Oh, and toilet paper. Believe me, that IS a luxury.

Please post your directions for turning dry cocoa into liquid for moldings. I would love to learn to do that. e live a sugar-free lifestyle, but every once in awhile a treat for the kids is a neccessary.

Thanks
Arttie

P.S. I stash creamer for my coffee. Coffe here is a neccissty, but creamer is a luxury.

I love to keep powdered chocolate, and I have a hershey bar mold and directions on how to turn dry cocoa into liquid to use for molding. I like to think of each of those as a bartering item.

We do some alcohol, heck why not.

I have been doing the same. I have about 10 bags of chocolate chips...I do bake so I rotate. And i have gotten a few containers of coffee when they are on sale and I have a coupon. I have a old coffee pot that you can put on the stove. Great fit for our wood stove. I have also been getting 2 a month of just regular containers of salt. I cant live without salt. And several spices that would be hard to grow. And of course seeds...Angie I am with you...dont get anything you dont already eat..

Lots of different spices to liven things up with. I also can many different meal-in-a-jar things. We are a store waht you eat and eat what you store kind of family and always have been. So it's hard to say what extras to store for me because mine is a "living" pantry. =)

Do what you love, love what you do.
