I was given a lot of hankies that belonged to my sister-in-law, my oldest brother's wife. She had many, many hankies and after she passed away my brother let her sisters have ones they wanted and then let me and my daughter have some. Quite a few, actually.

Then, a couple years ago, my mother-in-law, who is still living but in a nursing home situation, bedridden and not "with us", gave me all of her hankie collection (this was before her current state).

They are all so beautiful, soft colors, bright colors, different sizes, shapes, etc. and I've been thinking about a way to ENJOY them without having them stashed away in a box or drawer.

So, I took three cuphooks and screwed them into the wall just below the ceiling over the bi-fold closet doors in our bedroom. Then I tied 3/8 inch grosgrain ribbon to the cuphooks and using tiny, pastel colored clothespins, hung some of the hankies on the ribbon. They are in a place where then won't get disturbed but are very visible for enjoyment. Since this isn't permanent I can change the hankies out to different ones, different color scheme or whatever.

I do something similar with old hotpads. I have hung many of them on brads around my kitchen to give it splashes of color. Any number of them are from my grandmother and great grandmother. The different colors are so cheerful.

Mines not vintage, but I just picked one of these up at Ikea. Funny thing is, just this week I washed all our hankies and used it to hang them dry. It looked very pretty with all of them hanging there. :)

I have a retro pink 'delicate dryer'... that I use in my trailer glamping ....
I also have this vtg one... that I actually use for 'delicates' as well as hankies... to dry.

these were used to hang dry delicates like stockings etc. as well as hankies.... they nearly disappeared,,, but now you can find new-retro ones in speciality catalogs.

That looks so pretty. It really appeals to me. I only have a few, about four, and it sounds like I use them in my bedroom the way you have, too. They are so pretty. I like to be able to see them, like you said.

Rosemary those would be cute, I'll bet.
I know how to make sweet angels with hankies and have done so with other hankies that have no "connection" to me.

Last year I bought a trade paperback called "Hankie Couture" by Marsha Greenberg. I'm not a doll person, but I had to have it because of the clever way that she used old hankies to make dresses for a Barbie sized doll. It includes a template to trace for basic patterns.

That looks so nice CJ! What a great idea, and I love the fact that they are being "used"instead of stuck in a drawer somewhere.
Pretty cool!

I have many others, but I also use them to decorate my bathroom and I change that color scheme out about four times a year. There are some other ones decorating other areas in my bedroom as well.
Just wanted to enjoy them!

I use hankies for collage pillows and aprons and I have a friend who made some gorgeous wall hangings with hankies. Tempting, but right now I'm not wanting to cut or sew any of these into something . . yet!
