Posted - Mar 25 2013 : 5:06:04 PM I have 7 production red chickens that are almost a year old. Well, I had 7. They were all out running around on Saturday afternoon, then went in for the night. I let them out into the run Sunday morning - I didn't notice if they all came out or not, because usually 1 or 2 are in the next boxes. Mid-morning I went to let them out for some free ranging, and noticed only 6 by the door. I went looking for the other one, and found her dead on the floor of the coop. She was already pretty stiff (sorry, gross), so I guess she died during the night. I looked her over, and could find nothing wrong - no cuts, feathers missing, swelling, etc. Feet and comb all looked normal. The only strange thing was that one eye looked normal, and the other was completely clouded over milky white. Any thoughts on what happened??
