Has anyone made a dishwasher detergent that they were truly happy with? I have yet to find one that gets my dishes clean! Laundry detergent I am good with.... but not dishwasher detergent! Thanks ladies!

I've been using the washing soda, borax, and food grade citric acid. Sometimes I've added some lemon essential oil. we've had issues with it turning into a brick in the container so next time I do it I'm going to mold them into the little cubes. We've been happy with this recipe because the citric acid helps keep things from getting cloudy.

I'm going to have to try this one, Lori. The recipe I use isn't quite what I'd like it to be, but this one looks pretty impressive! Thank you for sharing! - Nini

Sorry, I put in about 2 teaspoons of the dry mix into my soap dispenser, and close it.

Vinegar is not eating away any parts on my dishwasher either. I put about a cup in the bottom (no more), and make sure the water is hot before turning it on.

One cube per wash load to wash and the vinegar takes the place of the jet dry, it does not help with the drying but does take care off spots and any soap that may try to stick. I have hard water and ir really makes a difference. It does not harm the pipes.

Kristina - How much of the detergent do you put in at a time??? It seems like vinegar may be the star ingredient. I've read that you have to be careful putting it in the rinse aid dispenser, due to the vinegar eating away at some of the parts in some machines.

Yes. I use 1 cup of borax with 1 cup of washing soda. I pour 1 cup of white vinegar in the bottom of the dishwasher before starting it, and I make sure the water is running hot before turning it on. I've been using it for about 5 years now.

This is a great dishwasher cube recipe that is easy to make. It sure beats paying the high prices for the retail version.

Here is the recipe that I tried & it works great in my dishwasher. I have a newer model. No problems.

I just made some today & I have to let it harden before using, but if you like I can give you the recipe when I get home tomorrow afternoon if you like.

over the years, I have tried many friends "homemade" dishsoap, and go right back to "Dawn', everytimes, its the only thing that works with me haveing wells, and hard water...
