Posted - Jan 27 2014 : 09:24:52 AM Hi girls!
Last night, I was sitting on the sofa watching television, and suddenly out of nowhere, I got this crazy case of the hiccups. I haven't had them in years! I tried everything - holding my breath, drinking water, plugging my ears, putting pressure on the soft spot behind my ears, cupping my hands over my nose and mouth and breathing rapidly... Nothing. Over an hour went by and I was getting desperate. My hubby was snoring on the sofa, my son was upstairs in bed, so having one of them jump out and frightening me wasn't happening. Suddenly I remembered a long time ago a friend shared that slowly letting a spoonful of peanut butter melt down your throat would do the trick. Sure enough, no sooner did the peanut butter hit my tongue, the hiccups stopped! I couldn't believe it! It really worked! I was so excited - and relieved - I just thought I'd share!
'Hope this helps all of you if you ever get stuck with a crazy case of the hiccups!
Hugs,
Nini

Posted - May 18 2017 : 12:09:28 PM I have always had a glass of orange juice. That does the trick for me. I will have to try peanut butter next time since I get them quite often.

Posted - Jan 29 2014 : 05:15:33 AM Peanut butter was my grandmother's cure. My brother-in-law in the Coast Guard swears by rubbing your earlobes. Glad you found a cure; having hiccups is miserable.

Posted - Jan 27 2014 : 9:01:53 PM Nini, that's great! I can't stand the hiccups and every time I get them, I go crazy trying to find something that works! Over the years, I think my body has evolved because I can never get a trick to work more than once!
