Today I came across an absolutely amazing book. It is written for children but would be a great gift for anyone loving nature and its beauty, anyone who has a grandchild or anyone who takes faith seriously.
It is a true story of a boy asking his grandfather about prayer.

Here is a little quote.
"Did you know, boy," he whispered, "that trees pray?"
...
"See how they reach for the sky," he said. "They reach and reach- for clouds and sun and moon and stars. And what else is reaching for heaven but a prayer?"

The book was written by Douglas Wood, author of Old Turtle. Our local school district invites a visiting author each year, dividing a week between the elementary schools in town; public, parochial, charters and the Academy for the Deaf. I had the pleasure of being his hostess/guide and assistant for the day.

His books are beautiful and in some cases very touching.

I totally understand. I bought 4 of his books when he was here last week and only one is going to my grandson. I WILL share when kids are here but for now they are mine!

Oh my gosh, Susan - what a beautiful book. So moving. It had me welling up in tears from the moment I gazed upon the cover illustration. I don't think I will be able to part with this one, but I will certainly snuggle up with the kids and read it to them when they're here. Thank you for the blessing! Hugs - Nini

Sounds like a very good book. I wish more people would listen to what the Grandmothers and Grandfathers are telling us.
