I got sucked into a marketing scheme on Facebook.

To my surprise, the daily emails actually seem to make sense. The emails are from Carol Tuttle and she is talking about personality types related to energy types related to element types (earth, wind, fire, water)

Anyone have any experience with this? I am on day three of supposedly 8 days of emails and videos.

I am afraid she is going to be so convincing in the videos I will not only buy her book but I will spend thousands of dollars so she will come to my house and personally make me over.

I am always wary of marketing schemes, but this so far seems to be on the up and up?

I did Dressing Your Truth at least 5 years ago, maybe more. I was very familiar with "Seasons" coloring (Spring, but that didn't really fit me), etc. Even though I paid for those services the DYT has changed how I look at my clothes, and how I feel. I know exactly what fabrics, styles, and colors to sew &/or buy (usually thrift stores).

Now, I want you to know that I am a strong woman & don't "need" other peoples approval to what I wear or how I feel about myself. DYT initially helped me clean out my closet and now I love what I wear, and feel comfortable in it everyday! I know why I didn't like, wear or feel comfortable in the other clothes, shoes, accessories, etc.

You can get the DYT book and proably figure out which ones you are. Most of us are a combination. I am a 2-1-3. I LOVE soft & comfortable. And have really adapted DYT to my personality and likes or maybe it is that way and fits my personality??? It just really works!

If you go to my Pinterest Board - My Style http://www.pinterest.com/herbquilter/my-style/ You can see what I like. But know that all "2's" don't dress this way. These are my likes and inspiration board, not that I dress this way, but they just that, inspiration. I am pretty eclectic and love variety, but find that I am the happiest is colors that coordinate and my closet is mostly blues, greens, lavenders, pinks and browns. I love bohemian style, leggings, and wear mostly skirts and dresses...or overalls and other "farm" clothes. I only wear clothes and shoes that are comfortable! I never dry clean anything. My favorite fabrics are; natural, rayon, linen, cottons (soft or on bias). I NEVER wear black or anything tailored. I think that life is too short not to have some fun too!

My thought ~ So clothes are really only costumes that I get to wear for the day.

After looking at this some more, I am thinking that one advantage of using the Carol Tuttle plan is just choosing a "style" and sticking to it, being consistent and giving yourself a framework for a "look".

I have to admit that my own wardrobe is pretty eclectic, I have everything from tie-dyed old hippie skirts with tunic tops, to cowboy boots/hat, to farmgirl aprons over denim skirts, to corporate business suits. And my colors are all over the map. Maybe I don't know who I am, or what I want to be when I grow up!

I've been researching some of the "Color Me a Season" stuff from the 70's and Bernice Kentner did also relate the "season" to personality type. She has some fascinating studies of eye color that she says genetically relate personality to your eye colors, which in turn influence your skin coloring and your "season".

On a related note I re-discovered a book about capsule wardrobes from back in the early 80's. Interesting, I think the overall concepts still apply today even if the big hair and big shoulder pads are gone.

I guess I need to clean out my closet!

I always thought the "Color Me Beautiful" trend in the 80's was fascinating. I will still pick clothing in colors from the colors that were in my little color swatch wallet. I suppose your colors do change with your age. But I did look better in my "autumn" colors. :)

Tuttle seems to be giving women a structure that can help make them feel more secure about how they feel and look. There's nothing bad about that but I wouldn't buy anything from her.

By the way, the more you click on Tuttle's links, the more you MIGHT be inviting contacts from the companies she links to. Could increase your spam.

OK, I am far enough into the emails to recognize that this is just a revamping of the "Color Me Beautiful" trend of the 1980's.

I am a winter. Maybe. But maybe I am an autumn.

Funny because I read a book way back when about organizing your wardrobe around colors - 2 neutrals and 2 colors

When your wardrobe is organized by color it helps because you can organize your accessories by the same colors

If your basic is Black you don't need brown shoes

If your basic is brown you don't need black shoes

Saves you money

Saves you time
I am going to create my own personality-type linked version of fashion know-how.

I will take into account
Current season of the year

Your color Season
Your personality type
Your Energy type
Your Elemental makeup
Your Body shape/type

Coming in 2025 to a theater near you!

My advice - watch the videos to see what you can get out of them and then block the emails or tag them as junk. Trust your intuition.
