This shrub has green berries that ripen to almost black. They are roughly the size of a cherry tomato. They have four rather good sized seeds in each berry.

I am not on Facebook :(. But if it looks like I could do it I will pm you for more details.

Also,,,,,,,,,I think I figured the shrub out its a Texas Persimmon! Who knew......I think I can make a couple jars of jam out of it now. Thank you to Catherine, Dawn, and Judy for all the input.

I would love it to be edible too. My chickens eat the berries just fine. I hope to know next Monday.

I don't know what it is, either. Boy, I hope it turns out to be edible for you!

Side note...county extension offices are great. I love ours.

The county extension office did just get back with me and will look at the plant next week. Hope they can tell me what it is. Dawn I thank you for your information too.

Do you have a arboretum or botanical garden by you? They usually have websites where you can submit the picture & question to find out what it is.

Hope you get an answer soon.

Sweet of you to reply. I am waiting on extension office so maybe they can help. Just would like to know more about what it is... Maybe it's an edible berry. Smell sweet when crushed and chickens love them.

Kelly...I have no clue what that could be...if you have a home and garden extension office in your area...you could probably email them a picture and they could help you with it...or they might even come to your home and let you know what it is...so nice to see you around:):):)

Hugs!
