Getting very excited about our trip to Hilton Head! We are leaving on the 21'st and driving down (over 1,000 miles.)I'm an avid photographer and will be taking lots of "snaps" during our week long stay at the Shipyard Plantation on Hilton Head Island, SC.

Anyone farmgirls near or around that area? I would appreciate any "tips" on local attractions or good restaurants in the vicinity!

Thanks!!

You're quite welcome. I think that one of the ghost tours does a run through Bonaventure and Colonial cemeteries but I don't remember which one it is and I think that it is Colonial cemetery that has people entombed in the walls surrounding the cemetery. If you like spooksville cemeteries, Gravel Hill in Pooler is quite active and spooky and doesn't get a whole lot of visitors, very neat place to visit, but then I'm more of a macabre kind of gal.

Thank you Rachel for taking the time.....I'll check these out and list them in my travel journal! I'm especially interested in seeing the Bonaventure cemetery-

Downtown "historic" area of Savannah has tons of stuff to check out. If you can go to the Casbah Moroccan restaurant on Broughton Street (best if you make a reservation) I know some of the ladies who belly dance there...the food is out of this world good and the dancers put on great shows, it is on the expensive side but well worth it. The ghost tours are really good too, lots of spooky places to see. If you're on River street, Olympia cafe has good food and in City Market, Belford's is awesome, so is Ruth's Chris Steakhouse. I've never been to Paula Deen's place--there is ALWAYS a line around the block waiting to eat there. Falnnery O'Connor's house, and the Mercer William's house are cool. Oatland island is my favorite place to go in Savannah, it is like a small zoo with mostly GA native animals there. Bonaventure cemetery is very cool. I also like the Skidaway Island aquarium, the marine center on Tybee (the only thing on Tybee worth going out there for to me), and Wormsloe plantation. Forsyth park is usually a happening place with festivals, art shows, etc going on pretty regularly. If you go to Wet Willies, get the Irish Attitude (if they still have it) that is one good drink.

Backyard Burgers-the only reason to go Hilton Head (in my opinion), LOL. I lived near Savannah for almost ever, but only rarely went to HH, so I'm not much help there, but if the BYB is still open they have some of the best burgers ever.
