Posted - Jan 08 2015 : 06:46:00 AM Happy Birthday January Farmgirls!
It seems that when I hit 40, I didn't really like my age any longer and avoided thinking about it. This past year has been a hard year of coming out of grieving and depression after my sweet Moma passing. But, I am coming out of it and joy is re-entering my spirit.
So, Here's to 47. Hip hip hooray! My kids are grown, we finished homeschooling, they're all in college and working full time jobs and are all doing well. My hubby and I are debt free, own and run a successful business that pays our bills and college tuitions. I took over my mom's rent houses and purchased more on my own and that money is going to provide for our emergencies and retirement.
When my mom got ill, I had to shut down the business aspect of the farm in order to care for her. I sold off half my animals. No more selling at the farmer's market, no more farm tours and classes, no more bringing my trailer full of animals to schools and daycares to teach children. BUT! I kept my favorites of the animals to provide for our personal needs. They have brought me such comfort through this past year as I would sit in my farmyard and cry. The turkeys would sit at my feet, the chickens would scratch and peck around me and the goats would lick my tears and give me soft kisses.
Again, Here's to 47! Here's to completing chapters of my life and beginning new ones. There's a book full of blank pages for me to write my future story on. I like being 47.
In a few years, I'll be able to post in the 'over 50 farmgirls' thread!!
