Debra I must humbly apologize. As I was looking for the book today, I think I already gave it to a knitting student I had. Will keep looking in case it's still here. So sorry. Will have a box of goodies for you the beginning of the week.

Debra -- I don't have a book to offer, but I have knit socks from the toe up. I prefer knitting them from the top down, but that may be because that's how I learned to do it originally. What lots of people like about working from the toe up is that they can try to socks on as they go and see how they fit. Also, if you know you're going to be close on how much yarn you have, you can fudge the top a little and make the sock shorter.

I would recommend going to ravelry and searching for toe-up sock patterns -- there are lots of free ones on there!

Have fun with them.
