Hi there!
I am looking for pieces of barkcloth, with cowboys or western prints.

as for Bark Cloth, you can find it on ebay as well as etsy,,, usually as old curtain panals or cutter fabric. It has been uber popular since the 1940's through the late 1960's,,, now I find bits-n-pieces at flea markets, and Antique stores,,, if you can find several pairs of matching long drapes... you have struck Gold! I have a decent collection of bark cloth from floral, to tropical to Mid.Century Modern/Atomic and even some 'Moses' scenes.... I luv it...
Hawaiian Polynesian clothing was popular to be made in both Bark and Tapia cloth, both of which are a type of bark that is beaten down into fibers (think Flax linen ) I am on the prowl for a vtg. bark cloth Hawaiian dress,,, but usually when I do find them, theh are such tiny sizes or bloody expensive! but I keep looking...
I did find (& buy) a mans red Bark cloth Hawaiian shirt,, it is a size sm., yet fits me...the shirts then in the 50's & 60's were more fitted then todays loose and over sized Hawaiian shirts.

The site Shelba was referring to is "vintage linens for sale".. on face book....
and yep, vtg. bark cloth, linens, doilies, hankies, buttons etc.

bark cloth has a very 'nubby' texture... and makes great curtains, as well as re-purposing into handbags, deco pillows...ets.

I'm not sure; but, I think if you found any today it would be vintage. I found a few on e-bay. Not many western prints.
Sadly, years ago I owned a set of drapes (not cowboy or western) and just gave them away. Little did I know they were already a collector's item.

I don't believe they make it anymore. At least not here.

Do they make it today? I remember it back in the 1950s. I haven't seen any in forever.

It is a soft, thick fabric with a sort of texture that resembles tree bark. This came from Wikipedia. I had some a while back but didn't use it so I ended up giving some of it away.

Evelyn Larue Thorpe on Facebook founded a site to buy/sell vintage textiles and notions. She has some with cowboys around a campfire and some with boots. She may have others if you message her and ask. Evelyn owned a quilt shop around 20 years ago and spent a lot of time at swap meets near the Southern California garment district before that--has A LOT of fabric. I was her customer back when and see her around town.

Take care, Shelba
