Hi! I am a new member here, and this is my very first post. I have "lurked" on this forum for a few years, but became an official member a few weeks ago. I look forward to "getting to know" some of you and am excited about what lies ahead.

I thought I would reach out, today...as our last and youngest son moved out of the house today to go to Providence, Rhode Island to attend graduate school. We are so excited for him, but my heart is breaking. This is even harder than I ever imagined. The "letting go" process is not always easy...especially these last 6 months...my mom passed away this past January, my dad doesn't know me anymore, due to his dementia, and now my youngest has moved out, on his own. I know that "this, too, shall pass", but the transition won't be easy.

Anyway...I look forward to being a part of this sisterhood!

Thanks for "listening"!

Winnie! Thank you for your warm welcome AND for the note you sent me a few weeks back, when I first became an official member. I still want to write you back, but as you can tell by my first post on here, it has been a little tough right now. I usually try to stay on top of things, but not so much, lately. I will write back, though! Thanks so much!

Thank you, Wanda. You're right...it has been pretty tough, one thing after another, but I am trying to keep my chin up and stay busy, as you suggested. Thanks, again, for your kind welcome. I am talking to the Lord a lot, too.

Popcorn for dinner, MaryJane? Why not? Sounds good to me. Yes...the transition IS hard. But, I know I will be ok, with time....especially with the great folks on this forum.

Thanks so much, everyone. I am very grateful for your kind comments, thoughts, prayers, etc. It truly means a lot. I am eager to get to know you all...I guess it will just take some time to cheer up after all that has gone on in my life these past several months. But, I know I will. I am trying to keep my chin up. Thanks, again.

Welcome Beverly! That IS hard when your last one leaves home. It's quite the adjustment but truly it only took me a couple of weeks before one day I went, hmmmm, it is nice not to worry about what I'm making for dinner. Popcorn for dinner? Why not!

Beverly, I feel for you having been through just that scenario. It is hard when they leave. We have to re-invent ourselves as something other than mom for awhile. Focus on what you can do with yourself and hubby now. Good luck. Enjoy your adult children.
