One of the things I associate with fall is a bowl of unshelled nuts with a nut cracker on a handy table. Here in Texas that means pecans. I also like the look of a bowl of unshelled roasted peanuts.

A container for shells is a must to keep things tidy.

Abi, I also associate Fall with a change of menu with favorites like chili, pumpkin bread, chicken pot pie, homemade vegetable soup and cooking lots of greens like fresh mustards, collards, and chard. Cozy foods seem to appeal to me in the Fall as I don't make them during the warmer months when it is just too hot. There is nothing that smells better than pumpkin bread in the oven and a slice slathered in hot butter! That will really get you in the mood for fall!!

Girls, it has been so warm up here until today that I totally understand what you say about fall in the South. I sympathize. Find a mini pumpkin and set that out. It will come. Be glad you don't have below zero weather in the winter.

Winnie! I love that idea. I should knit up some fall theme hand towels. Maybe simmer some cinnamon and vanilla in water.

Abi, I live down here in northern Florida so I totally understand your dilemma! But like Sara, I keep Fall in my heart and when September rolls around, I am off and decorating by making things and and using what I can find. I refuse to let this beautiful season go uncelebrated even if I live deep in the South!! A Farmgirl has gotta do what a Farmgirl has gotta do to make things happen. May I suggest a few fall kitchen towels and an apron to wear and use everyday? That always seems to make me happy as the AC continues!! LOL!!

Sara, I just got my pumpkin this morning at the store for the porch. Because my porch gets so much direct sun, I won't put it out front until the last week of October so it won't be cooking pumpkin pie everyday inside of it!! LOL!! Currently, it is happy in the shade of the back door area. I love that your neighbors noticed and commented on your porch decorations. It makes me happy to know that others are enjoying the decorations too. I know I love to drive around and see what other people have put out on their doors and porches. It just makes it feel more like Fall when others do the same.

Abi, Indian corn is available in some stores but it is expensive. To stretch your dollars how about a wreath primarily of corn husks and if you can find the corn scatter it around. Corn husks are usually found in Mexican section of grocery stores.

You could also use mini gourds instead of corn. Hope you find what you are looking for. As for our weather being hot I keep fall in my heart & home year round just decorate more when it is actually the season.

Had a wild idea while typing ~ how about a corn husk wreath with sea shells. A little fall - a little gulf coast...

Ah, I need to find the motivation to decorate. When I was living in Michigan, it was super easy. The leave changing was great inspiration. Now that I'm on the Texas coast, it still feels like summer. My mom and aunt want to make indian corn wreaths, but I can't find any down here. Indian corn is all over the grocery stores up north.

Winnie, I enjoyed the bag you gifted me and I bought 1 bag of candy corn which I have eaten. Overtime I have lost my sweet tooth so I am satisfied until next fall.

One of the things I like about belVita breakfast biscuits is they are not too sweet. Their orange-cranberry is my favorite.

The other day I was in my front yard when a woman walking by said she liked my pumpkins on the porch. It was like a verbal hug. It's always good to know passer-byers enjoy my fall decorations.

I will look for that brand here and see if I can try them out. I noticed many pumpkin type cookies listed in the weekly grocery store flyers lately but have not purchased any. It is always good to try something when you have an endorsement because sometimes you purchase something pumpkin and it is mediocre at best. Hey Sara, I have been diving into my bad of Jelly Belly Harvest mix. Hehe, those little sugary treats!!

While we are all busy enjoying the cooler weather and decorating for fall I have a new munchie for us to nibble on. For a limited time, belVita breakfast biscuit - that's what they call it - I just say good cookie - is offering pumpkin spice. I bought a box and it is tasty. They're good till next March so I plan on stocking on them.

Thanks girls! We hope to take a drive into the mountains tomorrow. Don't know if there'll still be good color on the trees or if it's too late. With our rain in lower elevations earlier in the week, came fresh snow on our mountain peaks!

Today nature is decorating for autumn. Zillions of tiny golden leaves are whirling down and across the yard. Nearby trees and shrubs are painted in brilliant reds and gold and the evergreens are a solid base of green against the golden grass and baring brown limbs. I'm going to go with a big gathering basket and hunt for new pine cones and attractive grasses for a swag.
Killarney Posted - Oct 09 2015 : 1:01:51 PM
As I was walking to the mailbox today, a gust of wind came up and 100's of tiny gold leaves rained down on my head! I just stood there for about 2 minutes and watched them fall from way up high a 75 feet tall tree! It was like Fall 1966 again ........walking to school in the falling leaves! Rex said, He thought I was a nut when it came to trees! when he first met me, and that he never noticed them change colors and fall, but now he tells me when he sees a pretty one! LOL!!

CeeJay. Love all of it! The filled baskets on coffee table are so cute.

I do have a thing for old work boots, adult & children cowboy boots. I have one of each so my next front porch project will be to copy your idea of putting a fall bouquet in the black lace-up work boots.

Jumping seasons ~ I keep the black work boots under telephone bench on front porch year long. Bring them out at Christmas and put by front door ~ drape a Santa hat over them. They remind me of Santa's boots.

Here are my indoor fall decorations:

Dining table

Old pair of western boots that are only used for decorations (they go glamping with us too)

Sofa table behind the loveseat

Aspen burl bowl my hubby made full of silk leaves on one end of the coffee table. Table is glass topped so you can see what's underneath

On the end table by couch

On the entertainment center

On the other end of the coffee table

In front of one of the big living room windows

Thanks for letting me share!
Happy Fall!
