Hi, I'm not new to Mary Janes farm I've in fact been enjoying her wonderful magazine for years now. I just recently retired from over 40 yrs standing behind a chair making people feel beautiful about themselves either with a marvelous new hairstyle or a beautiful new hair coloring or highlighting. I was the local leader for over 8 years of our local Horse and Pony 4-H club. The Linthicum Hi-Riders and then when my daughter moved into USPC. I was the Co-DC in our local chapter for another few years before my daughter got too wrapped up in high school sports and found the horses took up too much of her time. I've owned horses my entire life but at 57 and two knee replacements I had to sadly admit defeat and sell them off. I'm now enjoying our beach house in Ocean City Md and will be moving to a beautiful new rancher on 1 1/2 acs. In just three weeks. I think I see a pony in my granddaughters future! Maybe a mini with a cart since its on a quite dead end street surrounded by 40 acs. I do a ton of crafting, haven't met one yet I cant make! My mom and grandmother where both talented artists. I love gardening, cooking, canning, preserving and going to the beach on weekends which will soon be changing soon to a lot more often! I also sew and quilt and I can't stop myself from finding daily projects to make on Pinterest. I'm hoping to find like minded friends on here to share our stories and knowledge.

Hello Karen--

Welcome! It sounds like you are indeed a busy person, but I'm so glad you were able to work in time for us as well. :-)

My children were also involved in 4H, but we had rabbits and llamas. Given that our children are now grown and no longer live at home, my husband and I also decided to sell many of the animals because of the time requirements. Still, we do have a flock of chickens and rabbits that do keep us busy.

Hello Karen! I too am a newbie here but I can already tell you that there are some really nice farmgirls on here who have already made me feel so welcome. Despite all of our vastly different backgrounds, everyone has been friendly and accepting.

Wow! You sound like the farmgirl I'd like to be when I grow up! I am pretty good with the outdoor stuff and the livestock but havent quite mastered the crafty part and the cooking part yet!

It sounds like you have a wonderful retirement ahead of you. I wish you all the best and welcome to the farmgirls!
