02/22/16: Taking down my Valentines Day decorations today, which are not many! Getting out some spring things in pastels and flowers! YES!
CJ

Well, today I started undecorating my house from Christmas. I was going to leave things up a big longer but my kitty cat has cabin fever and keeps messing with my little Christmas village. So, I started by taking it down and decided to go on with the rest of it.

However, I'm replacing it with some winter decorations, such as a few snowmen, bottle brush trees, wooden mittens, wooden trees, tiny sleds, etc. It'll be for January before I change it out to Valentines decor for February!

I have a large fake evergreen wreath without any decorations that I hung on the outside of the house. I also have a few pairs of old white ice skates I'll get out and use for decor.

It's winter here, that's for sure!

I'm getting to where I try to take the "less is more" approach and not use as many décor items.

I'm not a huge decorator, but keep a "seasonal table"
Here it is, decked out for March.

Spring has arrived at my house. It's official. I changed my fall/winter comforter today for the spring/summer one. It's a little work because I launder the comforter before I put it up until next fall.

I've decorated for spring here and there but now with the taupe comforter and red linen pillowcases on the bed I can really get into spring decorating.

We had another round of winter Monday night with a "no visibility" snow for a little while, which quit about 10:00 PM. Yesterday was cold and with a cold north breeze . . . but it's Colorado and it's only February. There will be more!

The spring weather we have been having the past week has inspired me to put out some new spring decorations. My yard is full of pretty azaleas blooming and the birds are beginning to sing in the early morning too. All signs that this part of the US is moving away from Winter. Next week will be Spring Break for the university here and countless other universities . There will be the annual flock of students to the beaches for the next month as well. The water is still very cold, especially on the Atlantic side, but more tolerable if you go way south towards Miami or Naples. Strawberry season is about ready to pop up here in north Florida and I am looking forward to getting delicious berries to enjoy. The cold is returning here tonight and we might get another frost so I am hoping not because it could ruin the local strawberries!

Bonnie and Denise you might have to do like I do for fall (my favorite time of the year). I start decorating for fall the mid to later part of August when temps are 100+. I'm so eager to get the summer over & done with I get into my fall zone and stay there until winter.

Much of my inside fall things stay out year round and become part of my home's décor - collections of pumpkins & scarecrows. Can't have too many of them.

Bonnie, we won't get "real" Springtime until April. March is usually still quite cold and windy here. That's why I like to decorate the inside now. At least I can enjoy it a while longer. I add my St. Patrick's decor right along with it. I only have a few things I put out for that. But, it all gets me in the mood for warmer days.

Denise, I hope you heal quickly.
I have been thinking spring too. However, in Minnesota we know we have to wait fo late April or May for the real one. I did a double take when we just had a blizzard-like snow this morning. It was pretty and didn't last long, but a real reality check. Guess I'll just have to think spring.

I got up today thinking Spring cleaning and changing my seasonal things to Spring. But, our plans are not always the ones we end up with. Tonight I am taking it easy after having a dental issue taken care of spur of the moment. Suffice to say I am not eating just yet. Well, ,I quids but, there is tomorrow and that is my plan.

Today I got the bathroom decor changed from winter to spring. Yes, I change the bathroom too with the seasons. I decorate it for Christmas, then switch to hunter green and burgundy with white and coordinated items for January and February. Now it's all decked out in pink with white . . . nope, my hubby doesn't mind pink decor in the bathroom a bit! It will stay pink until September (or so) when I'll change it to light shades of teal and cream.

The other decor is changed to light green, lavender, yellow, a bit of pink, etc. And I use a lot of vintage linens, such as doilies, dresser scarves, napkins, hankies, etc.

So, now I can enjoy this for a little while. I'll change the living room area out in the summer sometime!

Sounds lovely Sara! I don't have a porch per se. We do have a deck that has no roof. I had hoped to have a pergola built over it years ago, but that didn't happen, probably won't, so I gave us. I do kinds decorate it with flowers, etc. in the summer. Have a LOT of antigue stuff out there, including an old wood cookstove by the back door that I think is cute! It has the warming shelf with a collection of tea kettles on it . . . but that all stays there year round!

CeeJay I'm been in the spring decorating mood for a week now. Changed out front door child's western boot with rosemary for a wreath made out of a yellow water hose and large leaf ivy up one side with a wooden yellow birdhouse on the bottom. 3rd year for the wreath.

Changed out winter picture between the two white whicker rockers for one of yellow roses. Yellow & white will be my color scheme for the flowers I put in front yard. Also will do pots of green plants to anchor the lighter colors. The same rules of decorating comply with outdoor decorating as do with inside; with a little more freedom.

I do little inside seasonal decorating these days but I do like to gussy up my front porch.

I had a dinner party tonight. Our decorations were still up. We didn't finish decorating until Christmas Day! Everyone paid us compliments about how nice the house looked. I will switch to Valentine's Day dec. this weekend.
