I have several pounds of dried lavender left over from my wedding this spring. Do any of my farmgirl sisters have any good ideas on how to use it?

Vicki, I have never heard of weaving lavender. That would be beautiful. I love the smell of lavender. My mom used to send me a big box of her lavender every year when I lived in Texas. I would just bury my face right in it and sniff up that luscious fragrance. I bet a basket made from them would be beautiful.

Wonderful sent and I kept it in the bathroom with steam it was stunningly soothing!nheld washcloths! Would you like to send / sell some twigs? 12" minimum length and I will try to weave? Hmmmmmm. I just noticed the info on the bottom of your post, Grace. I will make sure to keep an eye on the color of my lavender to see if it is good for baking or good for crafting.

I have made lavender cheese cake... and one of my fav Tasains..is lavender chocolate mint tea...

Simple rule of thumb... when baking with lavender ..
The lighter in Color, the better for baking...
The darker in color, the better for crafting (scent)

The darker the color the more strong/camphor the scent and is to over powering in food.

Has anyone tried lavender Ice cream? I seen a recipe for it but forgot where I seen it. It sounds good. I drink a lavender tea and it is delicious.

Hi Melody,
Have you seen the previous post here in the Herbal Wisdom section on Lavender Wands? Those would be really fun to make.
Lavender buds could be used for sachets, herbal baths, or herbal sleep pillows- either alone or combined with other herbs/flowers. (Just be aware that lavender does not suit every body type.)
Do you make soap?- you could add some to that.
If not, maybe you could make lavender water- that's easy enough. Boil 1/2 cup water per 2 Tbsp lavender buds, pour water over buds, let steep overnight, strain, and bottle. You can add one ounce witch hazel or vodka or refrigerate to help it keep a bit longer. Lavender water can be used to spritz on linens, as an air freshener, or as a facial toner- best for mature or combination skin.
Well, those are some ideas. Hope that helps!

Blessings to you on your life's journey.
