I am hopeless. I love pumpkins, can hardly wait for fall to make pumpkin pies, bread, muffins, drink pumpkin spice coffee. So, while mulling over all this, I had to have a pumpkin coffee mug. Had to.... and guess what I found at Sur la Table, their latest mug. Ten bucks. I'm worth that.. shipping was free. So while I swelter tomorrow in 90º heat, I'll be happy thinking of all the wonderfulness of the coming fall. I love it. Yup, I could make pumpkin stuff right now, but are you kidding? It's going to be 90º + tomorrow. No oven is being lit up until the outside temperature drops quite a bit. We're due for some showers and back to our usual 70º. Dying for that to happen. Meanwhile the garden just doesn't know what's going on. I do have one large pumpkin turning orange. Yummy, yummy!

I found an interesting recipe for a spice mix. I fall easily when I see the word "harvest". So here's the Harvest Spice Blend: 2 teaspoons ground cinnamon, 2 teaspoons ground cardamon, 1 teaspoon ground cloves, 1 teaspoon ground ginger, 1/2 teaspoon white pepper. Yup, pepper. Don't use black pepper. They used it in chocolate chip cookies. You'll have to love cardamon because it overrules the other spices yet all add to the wonderful flavor imparted. Rubbed some on pork chops last night. Loved it!

I'm totally with you! I LOVE pumpkins. Pumpkin anything. I always say "You could roll dirt in pumpkin and I'd eat it". It's all I can do to keep from pulling out the fall decor!!!

Love the mug.

And look what I've got in my garden:

Sylvia, that recipe sounds delicious! I bet it would taste super good on a scone!

We had some rain and cooler weather yesterday and I was getting excited, but now we are warm again today. Yesterday was just a tease.

We are feeling fall these last two days here in western WA. It's raining. It's been awhile. Deep green will result and our veggies will soak it all up. I love the smell during and after a good rain. Meanwhile, I found another evil thing we can prepare for fall. The recipe is called Whipped Cinnamon Pumpkin Butter:
2 sticks (8 oz.) butter, at room temperature
1 teaspoon cinnamon
1/4 teaspoon nutmeg
pinch salt
1/4 cup+2 Tablespoons pumpkin puree (if home made, makes sure it's drained well)
1/4 cup honey
1 teaspoon vanilla
Beat butter until fluffy. Add the cinnamon and 1 Tablespoon of pumpkin puree. Beat until well combined. Continue beating and add the pumpkin puree, honey and vanilla. Beat until thick and fluffy. Store in the refrigerator and use at room temperature.
You'll find yourself putting it on pancakes, biscuits, waffles, toast and God only knows what else.
It's insanely good. Alter the spices as you wish. I love allspice, so added that.
Sorry to ruin any diets but we've waited all summer to indulge, haven't we?

Came on to post something and the bear made me forget! LOL! Fall makes me want to cook and bake so yesterday I baked a pumpkin cake. Come on over and help me eat it before the hubby eats it all. Every one needs a little sister time!

Sara, they have material with the red truck also. Tempting! While I was outside last evening sitting on the edge of my red claw foot tub with feet in the water dreaming of fall, I heard the phone ringing. I went in and it was my neighbor telling my husband that a bear was in our 1 driveway standing straight up pulling branches down. So much for dreaming of fall. Stayed in the house! LOL!

Yesterday at Hobby Lobby my sister bought a kitchen mat with pumpkins, rooster, and old red pick-up truck on it. Beautiful. I thought about it but I knew Annie would make short work of it so I passed. May go back and get it to put up for next year.

At Dollar General I bought a kitchen towel with the same pattern as on kitchen mat. There may be other items out there with the same pattern - I'll be looking.

The days here are still hot but mornings are cooler which makes it bearable. Ever now & then I get a whiff of fall in a breeze.

Krista, I think your idea of bringing out the fall and tempting the weather to follow is a solid plan! People like me who live in the deep south have to pretend fall is here because we can remain hot all the way to Christmas! Hehehe, I have already starting putting out a little Fall this or that. It is just plain fun. And why not?

With September only two days away I am starting to feel the itch of fall. It's crazy that we are still so warm here. I am ready for some cool fall weather and the delicious pumpkin spice everything that everyone keeps talking about. Maybe if I get fall decorations out and start making pumpkin food the weather will follow me! On the bright side it's looking like we will cool down this weekend. There is just something about wearing a long sleeve shirt that I just love.

Sylvia -- I moved here to SE PA from Renton 6 years ago. I just love the fact that we have 4 distinct seasons here. And this year I was able to grow PUMPKINS in my garden!!! I planted a packet of "Boo" mix -- we got 3 orange beauties and 3 spooky white ones. I made my Ovaltine in my pumpkin orange mug last night -- I think we are all looking forward to autumn.
