Posted - Aug 31 2016 : 1:36:56 PM DH and I have gardened since we were first married. Every year our garden seems to grow and expand! We like to experiment with new things to grow and new ways to grow them. In the 15 years we have gardened on our property, our garden has grown from a small 12x12 square to almost 1/3 of our acre! We've added fruit and berry trees along the way as well.
A couple of years ago, the kids asked about making a farm stand at the road. We checked into it and eventually got it going. The kids help keep it stocked and cleaned (mostly!) and at the end of the season we divide the earnings up four ways - one part for each child. They then Divide their portion four ways - one half goes to their college fund, one quarter to a charity and the last quarter to spend. Sometimes they get $20 each and sometimes they get $70 each - depends on the season!
AsI was filling the stand this afternoon (see - I said they mostly helped but not always!) I couldn't help but admire the beauty of the stand. The colors. The smells. The shapes. I love harvest season!! So I had to share!!

Posted - Sep 01 2016 : 11:53:29 AM Jennifer...you are not only growing beautiful, healthy food to share with your family and others but you are growing beautiful, smart, seasoned young people...who get the benefit of learning that $ isn't a free-bee... you have to work for it and then be responsible with it too. And yet there is always some left for a little splurge on your heart's desire. Way To Go Farmgirl!!!!
