Hi girls!

'Just have to share with you these adorable Snowmen In Mugs…

I had seen a similar snowman hot cocoa done on YouTube and then Pinterest, and made it more do-able for me. Theirs are called Snowman Hot Chocolate Snow Globes, and are made in Ball Glass Jars or Ball Glass Mugs, with lids. The idea is to add hot water or hot milk and the lid and then shake into cocoa, but since I am making them for younger children, I’m just not comfy with the whole shaking hot liquid thing. My girlfriend’s daughter was scalded by hot tea as a little girl, and I know Shannon has had a similar experience… Just don’t want to go there. So instead, I purchased Libbey Glass Mugs from a local discount store, and will serve these up with Candy Canes for stirrers!

Here’s the “How To”. Please note: I have used store bought ingredients, just to make it easy for me since I am short on time before the holiday, but I am confident they would be even better with homemade hot cocoa mix, homemade frosting, etc., etc. A girl’s gotta do what a girl’s gotta do to get the job done, after all!

Ingredients

- Clear Glass Mugs (or drinking jars or pint jars with lids)
- Hot cocoa mix (I bought Swiss Mix individual packets on sale & used 2 packets per 16 oz. mug) Please note: You can use ANY flavor hot cocoa you like – milk chocolate, peppermint, caramel, white chocolate, peanut butter – OH, the possibilities!
- Jumbo marshmallows
- Regular marshmallows
- Food markers (I used Wilton’s, found in the cake decorating aisle at Walmart)
- Icing, for glue (I used Wilton decorator icing, found in the cake decorating aisle at Walmart)
- Cherry flavored Pull ‘N Peel Twizzlers
- Chocolate Disks (I used Milk Chocolate Dipping Choclate Candy Melt Wafers)
- Rolo Candies, Unwrapped (You can also use Miniature Reese’s Peanut Butter Cups, if you prefer)
- Sugar sprinkles, for snow (I used Dallies Sparkling White Sugar from Walmart in the baking aisle)
- Candy canes, for stirrers

Directions:

- Add enough hot cocoa mix to make enough for one serving in your glass mug. My mugs are 16 oz. mugs, so I used two packets of Swiss Miss cocoa in each mug.
- Take a jumbo marshmallow, draw black dots on it for buttons.
- On a regular sized marshmallow, draw eyes and a mouth with the black marker; press the orange marker on its side above the mouth for a carrot nose.
- “Glue” marshmallows together with icing.
- For scarf, gently peel two strands from the Twizzlers. They will be sticky enough to wrap around the neck of the snowman and stick.
- To make the hat, “glue” a Rolo candy (small end down) to a chocolate wafer melt. Then “glue” to the top of the snowman.
- Gently place the snowman in the mug on top of the cocoa.
- Sprinkle generously with white sugar sprinkles to cover the cocoa and accent the snowman with “snow.”
- Cover with plastic wrap and decorate mug with ribbon, if desired.
- To make cocoa, simply pour hot water or hot milk into the mug and stir. Optional: Serve with Candy Canes as stirrers!
- If you’re using a Ball Jar or Ball Jar Mug, when you pour in the hot water or hot milk, simply place lid tightly on top and shake up like a snow globe until well mixed!
- Enjoy!

Won’t these be adorable served at parties? Or how about given as favors? Or what about making one for the kid who shovels the driveway? I also really like the idea of having them waiting at the ready for everyone after a hearty day of sledding and ice skating!

Merry! Merry!

Hugs -

'SO glad you girls like these as much as I do! Every time I walk into the kitchen, I just look at them and smile! Everyone who has seen them has gone ga-ga over them! My son came home and said, "Mom, those are SICK!" I said, "Why? What's wrong with them? I think they're CUTE!" He said, "No - I LOVE them! I showed your text to everyone at work and they want to make them, too!" LOL!!! "Sick" is a good thing nowadays, I guess? LOL! What a fun holiday and winter treat!

And I just have to say it: Grandmas RULE!!! LOL!

I made them primarily for my foster grandkids and younger nieces and nephews for our Christmas Eve afternoon get-together... But none of us are ever too old for fun stuff like this, huh?! It's all about making the memories! :)

Merry Christmas!
