I came across this sweet lil article about "Week-end cottages on wheels"...
It talked about how affordable it was for West Coast families.. that the average cost for a weekend (Friday-Sunday) was about $10 not including food.
The article referred to the small trailers (10-18ft) as "Bugs".

(lil blue & white one is either an Aljo or Aljoia,,, )

These photos were taken near Morro Bay, CA...

I can hardly wait,,, Glamping season is just around the corner...

It is fun,,, it's like playing in a 'playhouse on wheels'...
and as my friend, Juli says, 'our trailers are like Barbie dolls,, we can change their outfits when ever and as often as we want'...
and it is so true,,,
my Scotty has gone from Mid Century/Diner to Shabby Chic to Audrey Hepburn-esk (black & white w/pears & rhinestones))

My Aljo was western...(sold it and now have a Aristocrat Land Commander which will be western)
My '65 Fleetcraft was farmgirl-esq...(sold it)
As for my '49 Viking cub cruiser,,,,I have no idea what to do with it yet,,, it needs full restoration...

I had a Silver Streak done in Mid Century Mod which I sold and a Shasta SCS that I sold...

If I still lived in Spokane with our 30x50 barn I would have kept all my trailers... but I am only on a 1.10 ac plot so no can do here...
But who knows what the future will bring.

I love to read about history and see the evolution of passions like tear-drop camping! It seems like it has never really gone out of style as so many still love to camp in these vintage trailers all fixed up! It looks like so much fun!!

Thank you for posting this Grace! I am feeling nostalgic for my hometown and all those Teardrop and Tiny Trailer events I used to stalk!
